20% rear window tint how much reduced vision / safety?
Hello, I am a new gen 5 2010 camaro owner without a backup camera and am uncertain on the safety of tinting my rear window to a max of 20%. I am planning on either going 20% or 35% in the rear.
I am considering getting my rear window tinted to 20% and am wondering / worrying how much this may reduce my vision out the rear glass in day and night. I have not driven my car very much yet and am not used to it yet, but the couple of times that I have backed it into the garage etc, I tend to look out the side window more than anything. I am currently in the planning phase and would love feedback and opinions. Feel free to share pictures if you have 20 or 35% total tinting in the back glass. The side windows will be 35%. Basically I do not want to back into something down the road due to too much tinting. thank you in advance. |

Backing out of a driveway at night would be difficult but other then that you should be fine. If you are backing into your garage you'd be fine with the light on so I'd say go for it. Then again, I drive with 5% all the way around.

Can't see anything out the back window anyways, tint or not. Mine is 20%. I use the mirrors to back up. Works for me!

Wait wait wait, you can see out the back?
Must have a unicorn car. Haha But honestly I only use my backup camera now. I have 15% and honestly seeing out the door windows is an issue at night. Can't see anything. |

I've got 35 on the sides and 10 on the back. No issue at all caused by the tint. I should have gone 10 all the way around.

That's why you have side mirrors. Use them. Tint the window and be dine with it.

20% is nothing, I have 15% on my daily driven Pontiac (which has a small back window as well) and haven't had issue because of the tint and have had it for probably 5 years. I'll be doing the same if not darker on the Camaro here shortly

20% looks and functions great. No trouble with the Police either.
Of course with these bad boys the Back Up sensors are a nice option! Cheers from Portland |

I have...
50% ceramic on my windshield (yes the whole windsheld!!) looks legit all dark, keeps the car cool when sitting in the sun, and easy on the eyes in the daytime 20% on my side windows 5%on quarter windows 5%on back window Visibility in the day is fine. Windshield is fine at night-lights are bright enough... Side windows fine at night... Quarters, you dont use em... As for the back window at night... on the road, all you see is headlights form the car behind you. When backing up, you CANT see anything. But you cant see anything out the back anyway! haha just the nature of the beast. I rely on my backup sensors and my mirrors. You have a back up camera anyway so you should really have no problem. Trust me, youll get say 35% and wish you would have went darker. My buddy has 35% and it looks like almost no tint at all. If you are gonna pay for tint, you might as well have it tint something! Darker always looks better in my opinion... I love my set up |
