The last time I'll ever get anything with airline miles

I have come to find that airline miles are generally worthless and next to impossible to use for anything worthwhile.
Can't redeem them, can't upgrade, can't fly when I want to. Can essentially do nothing at all with them.

But they make you feel better about your decision to get that credit card...

Yeah, I was flying a lot at the time, and thought it would be a good idea.
Turns out, I was extremely wrong.

Yep, I fell for the Capital One free air mile scam about 15 years ago.
Although you think you earned 25,000 miles it can only be redeemed for 250 actual air miles.

I travel every other month for work so I though what the heck, at least I can use the miles for some first class upgrades. That was until I realized that none of the fights my employer books for me qualify for upgrades. :( Now I wonder why I even bother to fly the same airline anymore.

I got a free trip to Vegas just for listening to a two- hour pitch for a time share. After learning that it is next to impossible to find a way to redeem it, thanks to black- out dates (every weekend is a blackout date, in addition to any week within seven days of a holiday, or when conventions are in town, or during summer... ), it basically leaves a couple of Tuesday- Wednesday options for me... but I need to pay the taxes and admin fees for it, and those are substantially more than it costs me to DRIVE to Vegas and stay in a nice hotel that I can find online. Reservations must be made two months in advance... hell, I can hardly predict 30 minutes into my own future. For three years now, they have called regularly to remind me to book this thing... I have tried every method in the world to get them to stop calling me, because I DO NOT WANT TO TAKE THEIR "DEAL!" Anyway... similar to airline miles, in that it sounds f'n awesome ahead of time... but the rules and restrictions and omissions and additions and amendments and subsections and fine print and regulations and loopholes and bylaws and requirements make it something far less than worthless.
