OnStar Upgrade (4G/LTE/WIFI Hot Spot Module)

If you live in Canada.
You should be getting a letter soon from OnStar informing you of an upgrade.
I had mine done two weeks ago.

My Camaro 2012 now has in-vehicle WIFI hot spot and 4G/LTE signal.
Those with MyLink DIY, this MAY affect you for pre-2013 models.
You may have to tell the OnStar operator by pressing the blue button on your rear view mirror to send you a module matching your MyLink DIY head unit.

how much is OnStar charging for this? OnStar cell services are way over priced compared to other carriers, at least int he USA.

I've had 4g/LTE/Wifi in my cars since 2008, it's called a Mifi device, $50 a month unlimited data and I can move it from car to car.

After the free upgrade, you'll get a complimentary 3GB of data or 3 months, which ever expires first.

I wonder if the module will be available for the 2013 and newer Camaro's in the US. I understand if you are with AT&T you can use your shared data plan with this per the link below.

The reason Canada got this upgrade was because we're dropping CDMA network. Until your government drops it or mandate a drop of old network, I don't believe there would be an upgrade anytime soon in the US.

Thanks for explaining. Canada is freeing up frequencies and bandwidth, I guess going 3G (GSM) & LTE solely.
