Question Black ICE-olator install?

I'm doing this tonight, and a bit nervous, not gonna lie. None of my friends want to help because they're so scared I'm gonna screw it up. Comforting. LOL.

I got a 1/2" torque wrench from O'Reilly on loan to do this-- it's pretty big. Do y'all foresee any issues?

I also am going to go to Harbor Freight after work and try to pick up the flex wrench everyone keeps talking about, if it can be had cheaply.

Anyone have any pointers, or words of wisdom for me? Do you think this install will take more than a couple hours?

Running at the drag strip this weekend and want it done!

The 2 back bolts are the big PITA, other then that it's pretty straight forward. Depending on the back bolts this can easily be done in about an hour.

Don't you also need some liquid stuff to put around the holes to help it adhere to the intake manifold?

The two back bolts coming towards the front of the engine will take a while to get out, 20 mins. Then there's a third one that goes down into the engine from the top that will take 10 mins or so. The other bolts are easy.

My suggestion is grabbing a couple nuts to fasten the insulator to the manifold over night after the RTV is applied. It will give it enough curing time and then all you have to do is install all the bolts except the two back ones.

You will also need to keep mindful of unfastening the TB and making sure you put the hoses back to where they were attached. There is a mouting post up front near the throttle body, that is there for whatever odd reason I don't know, you won't be able to attach it back after the job is done.

So about a 45 mins to an hour to take off, another hour to put the assembly back on. Oh and overnight curing time for the insulator.

Waiiiiiit, so I have to let it cure overnight before I can drive it/put it back together?

This is gonna really gum up the works if that's the case.

I guess depends on the RTV being used, what does it say on the label?

maybe a few hours should do the trick.

It just depends which RTV you purchased. Mine was dry in 10 min.

A very thin layer is all that is needed of rtv. Just take your time and you'll be fine. I let my insulater sit for 4 or 5 min before I put the car back together. Then I waited 30 more min to make shore it had time to cure. A few of use may do it a little different but the end product is the same. Keep it clean and don't rush. Good luck bell
