Clear Bra Installation

I'm looking for recommendations for both what type to have installed and where to go to get the work done. Most convenient would be somewhere along RTE 1 between North Attleboro and Norwood, MA. Thanks for the help.

I would definitely go with a film that has a clearcoat topcoat. Most films on the market don't, which is why you see lots of cars with clear bra's that don't look very good and have a yellow tinge to them. I own a detail shop in Wakefield, MA and have been installing Ventureshield film for years now with no issues. The film is extremely glossy, little to no orange peel (texture) and also has a clear topcoat which can be polished if you happen to scratch it accidentally.

I'd be happy to take care of you if Wakefield isn't too far to travel. Be careful who you choose, as there are lots of hacks out there, which can result in harm to your car. There are three important factors in a quality clear bra install. First is a proper prep of the areas being covered in film. Second is choosing a good installer. The last is choosing a good film.

Here are a few jobs that I have done and have done in the past so you can see what Ventureshield looks like installed.

3M all the way the glossy kind.

The closest place is your garage, I did mine myself. It isn't perfect but does the job just fine for what I paid for the kit.

I agree Ken.

3M bought out Ventureshield and owns them now, so they are the same product. The clearcoat (glossy kind) is key in case it needs to be polished down the road. I have a car at my shop right now that was improperly washed by the dealer and got pretty scratched up. So far, the Ventureshield/3M film is polishing out perfectly.

Is the adhesive on the material?
Where can I order some pieces?
Do I need to cut to size? or do I need to specify what size I need to a shop?

I want to put some on the Roll bar door downtubes inside the car to protect the paint finish.

Yes, there is a top sheet that is removed and a water & alcohol mixture is sprayed onto the adhesive side which activates the glue. Once it is in place on the area you are covering, you squeegee out the liquid.

It is available in different size rolls from 6 inches up to 60 inches.

Can I order pieces from you?
I need to cover about 8' of 1 5/8" roll bar tubing.
2-4 foot X 6" pieces should do the trick.
I can trim them to fit from that.

Send me a PM.

600 you want to do the front of your car order a kit, check out ebay dealers for one for the SS.

It isn't as straight forward as making your own window tint patterns and decals, since you taking a flat plastic and designing it over a curved surface. However if you have access to buy 3M's designs directly for your vinyl cutting machine you might be able to make your own kit.

I bought mine for the whole front and hood of my camaro for under 200 on ebay and did it myself. Like I said it's not perfect, but when I took my car to get tinted the place complimented me on my job and said I only needed to learn a few tricks to make it perfect. Which I picked up by watching the guy install one on a new escalade.

3M Venture Shield for sure! No one really notices it unless I point it out to them!!

I have pics of it installed here: http://www.camaro5.com/forums/album.php?albumid=5279

I'm not using it outside, I'm using it inside.. LOL

I want to wrap the roll cage tubes where you crawl in over the tubing on each side - the door bars. They already have a couple small scratches in them. (they will be touched up once the work is done).

That's why I only need a few feet. I'm covering about 8' of tubing.

Not true. 3M did buy out VentureShield but the two films are manufactured seperately and are two completely different films. 3M to me is one of the worst films out there. It has a tremendous amount of orange peel and I would not install it on any car. I have used VentureShield Ultra for years and it is a great film. Little to no orange peel and has a better warranty than 3M. Now the new Avery Nano Fusion film is an outstanding film. I REALLY like this film as it is perfectly smooth, easy to install, and can not be stained (the top coat material is embedded throughout the film). I now offer VentureShield and Avery Nano but of the two I would go with Avery on my vehicle.
