Squealing Brakes Poll - Please Vote, I Need More Numbers
EDIT: SS owners only please
EDIT: If your brakes do NOT squeal, please post the last 8 digits of your VIN. Trying to see if the problem is related to early production. Long and short of my situation is that my brakes squeal 24/7. Chevrolet has told me that this is normal for racing pads (as they are semi metallic), I know all of this and understand some squeaking will happen. Not this much. I'm trying to get some numbers that I can bring to my dealer and explain to him that I'm not crazy. Please vote, it takes under a minute. If your brakes squeal, or have squealed at some point in time, I would greatly appreciate you leaving a post about your brakes. Thanks in advance C5 Last edited by The Stig; 06-25-2010 at 06:30 PM. My brakes only squeal high pitched when I'm going very slowly in reverse and sometimes when I'm moving forward very slowly barely appllyong the brakes. I'm talking about barely going 1mph, other than that no squealing at high speed braking whatsoever

Bought my 1SS on April 7th and have just started to notice a bit of squealing. Only happens under light breaking when approaching a stop sign or red light for instance. If i stop a little shorter I don't seem to hear it.

Your breaks WILL squeal with track pads on there. I have them and they do but that's the sacrifice of track pads.

You may want to edit your post and ask for only SS owners to answer the poll. Any V6 car has a differant braking system and will lopside your poll.

1SS - Comes and Goes
It's not bad, as I can pretty much get rid of it by adjusting my braking... if I hear it. I do plan on going to ceramic brakes once these pads are done... no audible noise and less dust. Worth the extra bucks in my opinion.

2SS here and yeah it happens every time I do light braking. I noticed it about a month after having the car and said man with 1,000 miles this is a little early but figured it was just maybe some dust in there but rolling on 3,800 now and still happens every time I approach to stop under light braking. Have only had to brake hard 2 times since having the car and neither time did it make a sound however driving it every day it happens pretty much every time I apply the brakes. May be something associated with these type of brakes but have never had them before so my knowledge in that respect is lacking. Hope this helps a bit to describe at least one situation.

If you really can't stand 'em, and have a few bucks... get some ceramic. They are better all around pads, but cost more. (i've done my research )

2SS here. Ive got about 650 miles on mine, and my brakes squeal every now and then. Ive noticed it happens with somewhat light pressure when approaching your stopping point... I especially hate it when it does it while Im coming up to a light and people are looking at me... lol.

Have had my car 3 months, 7000 miles and the brakes squeek only when I lightly apply them, at a stop light just rolling up slowly and barely touching them. The first month they were bad, squealed like a pig every time I applied them, but that stopped after a few weeks.
