Axle fluid change?

section 9-7 of Z/28 OM
“Because the fluid temperatures may
be higher, it is necessary to change
the rear axle fluid every 24 hours of
racing or competitive driving.”

in Z/28 special bulletin page 2
“For Z/28 track and competition driving, replace the axle fluid every 6
hours
.”

I’m at 6 hrs now. So which is it?

both documents are here: http://www.camaro5.com/forums/showthread.php?t=323419

I would go with the lower of the 2, would suck to take out the rear diff due to fluid breakdown.

If you haven't changed it after the break in period I would do it now.then every 24 after.

IMO, maintenance is one of the cheap things a person can do that has no down side. I'm at 22K km's or about 12K miles and I just did my 2nd diff fluid change and it was clean and clear on the second change. I've done half a dozen AutoX days and one full track day. I can tell you when I did my first diff service I was shocked how dirty and metallic it was but I'm guessing that was from the break-in of the ring and pinion.

Yeppers, agreed!

I already changed my Z/28 diff lube, after my first two track days. Relatively cheap and easy, although every six track hours is going to be my schedule.

yes I did it at 1500 miles after break in and before my track days. So the consensus is 6 hrs...correct?

6 hrs is about 5 track days. 24 would be about 18, which come to think of it is hella long. That's like 3 years for me.! I planned on changing it once a year. Which would be after 4-5 track days and 6000 miles.
