We did not design our hood to be a copy of the BB hood. The Sinister Camaro Hood was designed to work with the lines of the car in a way that the factory might have designed it. Many designs don't take a lot of vehicle specific elements into consideration. On the Sinister Camaro Ram Air Hood, the radius where the cowl meets the hood is the same radius as on the factory hood. The radius at the top of the cowl is the same radius as on the factory hood. Where the scoop is located and the angles of the front of the scoop are carefully placed based on other lines of the car. Here's a photo with an example.

Note the angle of the line where the fender meets the front fascia and see how that line correlates directly with the angle and placement of the driver's side of the upper portion of the scoop. Most hoods have the scoop either too far forward or too far back, they just placed it where they thought it might look good. They don't take into account the angle of the forward portion of the scoop or the placement of the scoop and how it relates to other lines on the car. We placed it where it belongs and designed it to work with the other lines of the car.

The T2 BB Hood, while a nice design does not take many of these 2010 Camaro specific design elements into account. That's the difference between having a pretty good designer create a part vs having an experienced automotive design engineer create the part as it might have been created had the original designer of the car included it. Every single line, radius and element of the Sinister Camaro Hood has been carefully coordinated with the rest of the car. That's why it looks more "factory" than many other hoods available...it looks like it belongs on the car.

We've never shared any of the development photos but here's one below of the hood while under development in the clay modeling stage. Not many companies other than an OEM manufacturer can show you their work being created in an actual design studio at the level the Sinister components were done.

Both the design and manufacturing of the Sinister Camaro components are done 100% here in the USA. Even the raw materials are sourced here, not oversees. Most other aftermarket hoods are manufactured oversees. Not many can make the claim Made in the USA.

To clarify another topic in this thread, SLP has two different hoods. They are similar in design but one is available exclusively on their special edition vehicles and the other is available standalone as an aftermarket product. You can find the standalone here (or on their site).

Jakepawl, the Sinister Camaro happens to be in Marin County right now and probably will be for another week or so. Email or PM me and I would be willing to arrange a meet up if you'd like to see it in person.

The Sinister Camaro will also be CamaroFestII in April. Make sure to stop by and say hi.

ron10 has said that you CAN buy the SLP ZL hood, and has said 2 of his friends have done so, so I would like to see the proof.

Just a guess but I think most people think there is only one SLP hood and don't realize there are two different ones. SLP will not sell the ZL Hood so if someone is getting them, its out the back door. But I'd be willing to bet that ron10's two friends actually have the hood I posted a link to.

PFYC,

Thanks for sharing some under-development photo's and details about the sinister hood This is a design that definetely took a lot of consideration and careful planning. This hood I would assume sells so well because it looks like it came straight from the factory yet its aftermarket. That is a combination that a crowd loves.

The BB Hood, however has a bit of a smooth taste to it. The center rise of the hood was risen to provide an extra inch for the ram air vent. There's a slight rise(almost flat) leading up to the ram air for the extra vent space. Not to mention the placement of the ram air vent is perfect for a smooth hood. And megan Fox was driven in a car that looked like this . Hopefully I will be able to bring a concept like version of this hood to CamaroFestII. We'll see though lol...

All in all, both hoods have their own tastes and GREAT style

Took a while to respond - Dealing with an MRT exhaust headache......

ah yeah, i didn't mean yours was meant to be a copy of the BB hood, just that it's the closest (and best) one i've seen to the BB hood.

glad to hear you'll be at C5Fest, i'll be there and be sure to stop by because i want your hood, just need the funds to buy it and paint it. i could buy it now, but don't have the money (or time off work as mine is a daily driver) to get it painted.
