Lingenfelter is working on a belt driven turbo setup on the V6, I'm curious to see what they come up with

The last two I added because they better represent the vehicle I'm looking for, and I've lost interest in 'Ring times. They really don't mean anything, and on a course over 11 miles long...there are a LOT of variables to contend with.

Testing the waters, are you, 3?
I'd buy one for sure if these were close to the stats.

Z-28 Request

Given that the first Z/28 was a vin code for a performance package to compete in the Trans Am racing with a limit on HP, my request would be this:

1. Eaton four rotor SC DI V-6 with 415 Hp.
2. Pedders Coil over suspension Lowered 1.5 inches.
3. Low restriction Cats and exhaust.
4. Z/28 spoiler similar to the dovetail.
5.Z/28 unique front fascia
6. Custom colors like Dupont hot hues or house of kolors.
7. Z/28 badging on outside and interior.
8. Z/28 special wheels.
This car would be priced somewhere between a fully loaded 2LT and 2SS.

Anything with more HP and equipment than a 2SS let's just call it a ZL1.

Imo

Well said.

I would also add dry sump, fuel pickup, 2pc. front rotors, SS brake lines, Recaro seats, 18" wheels, ... perf. bushings, quick ratio steering, (This car is getting expensive!) ... sequential gearbox, racing pedals

That is called a supercharger. There is no such thing as a belt driven turbocharger.

nurbergiring = 8 minutes 12 seconds. to knock 30 plus seconds off that lap time would need some serious tickering
A 4.0L motor from GM would most likely be based on the LLT which can be pushed out to those dimensions. It is cheaper and more practical at that displacement to make the engine a 6 cylinder.

That reminds me of this question...
"What's the difference between mules, donkeys, burros, and jackasses?"

Turbo = turbine ... check

charger = air compressor ... check

belt driven ... check

You can call an ass a donkey, but it's still an ass.

I am curious why people would want a supercharged/turbocharged V6 over an LS3 from the factory....
There are many advantages the LS3 has....

Turbo = turbine ... check There is no turbine in a centrifugal supercharger.......
charger = air compressor ... check
belt driven ... check

....and supercharger is driven by a belt. A turbocharger is not. This is universally the case. I don't see how the two can be confused.

But, and I'm not saying this is right, but isn't a supercharger a mechanically driven air compressor and a turbocharger an exhaust gas driven compressor?

That's how I've always looked at them.

It just so happens that most superchargers are scroll type.

And that just makes me wonder what the definition of a SUPERcharger is vs. say just a charger?

Hmmmmmmmmmmm, Shno is that beer cold yet?

Kind of like kids calling wheels...'rims'

It's almost all semantics.... If someone can prove me wrong, I'll kiss a pretty girl... in public even.

Call me a liar, but I think the rotrex is vane.

.... Of course even a scroll could be called a vane I guess... See there? It's those dam semantics.

... Oh yeah... Ram Air DOES exist beaches!

Sooooo, you will penalize yourself by kissing a pretty girl in public, ehhhh?

That's really risking alot. LOL

I might do that just for fun. Mrs. Number 3 and I are going grocery getting so I'll kiss her in public and tell you what horrible things befall me for doing that.

Yes, MC69, the Rotrex is a vane supercharger (it is very much in love with itself).

http://www.rotrex.com/index1.htm

It is a mechanically driven vane supercharger. So on the business end it looks like a turbo, but on the driving end it is a belt drive rather than exhaust gas vane driven.

It looks like an interesting drive mechanism too.
