When did you last replace the battery?

Dave, good info. When I had mine into the dealer and he first started it he asked if I could hear it dragging a bit before it started. Since my hearing has started to go south I didn't, but I'm at the point of giving a new battery a shot.

Now...best place to buy one?

And as to when it happens-it has not done it with me, only twice with my son when he was getting on it on a sweeper. Can't say if it was right or left, but that is what had me thinking MAYBE with the larger tires it was forcing it to rub that harness somehow.
I think I'll grab a battery and make a day down in Mesa where's its warm to check several of these possibilities out.

Oh wait, Dave's got a full on garage...Hahaha.

Almost identical symptoms on my '17...

Has happened twice since I bought the car in November of '16. Both times, it was due to a battery.

The batteries in the 6th Gen really get abused by the 'intelligent charging system'.

I haven't had one last more than two years.

DBS, you're welcome to come over any weekend.

I actually have a brand new, unsused AC Delco Gold battery in my garage even! If you choose to buy one... any Oreilly/Advance/AutoZone are also sufficient.

We can also see if any rubbing on the harness.

My car ALWAYS started perfectly... even when the battery was 'low'... It's the load/demand these cars put on them!

Message me if you'd like help swapping, I'm in Chandler.

Cheers,

Super Dave

Thanks Dave. I've been to your place. My ZL1 now resides at my sons house in Mesa and I'll let him do the heavy lifting. He recently sold the 04 Z06 I sold him because he didn't use it enough and the battery would get low and do similar funky things.

With his recent expereince with mine he's now hesitant to be a partner which is dissapointing so I need to figure it out.

Thanks so much for the offer though! Your dad and you are great!

I am having similar issues with my 2017 ZL1. Looks like I will be ordering the AC Delco gold for a replacement to see if that fixes the issue, along with keeping it on a battery tender from now on.

Bought a new gm ac/delco battery and charged it for a day. I thought it solved the issues, but nope. Went into reduced power mode so I putzed it to the shop and turned it over to them. Sure hoping they get it figured out. Frustrating!!

I bought the AC Delco Gold and charged it on my tender. Seems to have fixed my issues.

So after a week in the shop it was determined it was tied to some wiring underneath the drivers seat and was showing up on the scan tool as an issue with the throttle positioning sensor I am told. No amount of hotrodding caused it, but just hitting small bumps seemed to set it off.
Since my son had the touch getting it to go into reduced power mode I've turned it over to him and so far it hasn't popped back up. Fingers crossed.

This resonates a lot with me and what I’m experiencing.
Was it as simple and reseating the connection of a wire harness?

I also think to check the wire harness in the wheel opening. With wider tires and if they adjusted the rear caster camber it could of changed the geometry reducing clearance of that wiring. At least thats what ive been told a hundred times
