+ 1 TO The Hospital part for Ron.............

For me: Entering 65mph 3 lane Highway (most drivers are going 75), so going 60mph is not a problem.............IMO

I left a short note about my 0 to 60 run on the 0 to 60 site.
No change in time to speak of. Little disappointed I'll try tomorrow morn again
I hear you on the speeding, baby, and no word on the birth of the baby yet.
Part of the prob my son lives in Wisconsin and I live in Nevada.

[QUOTE=calflan;1036038]Well, installed my system today.

Note, I took some chalk and ran around the outside seal of the Airaid filter housing and closed thr hood. You'll see the chalk line on the hood underside noise dampener. It seals quite well and I highly recommend anyone doing this install, chalk their seal and adjust up the seal in areas that may not be touching as desired.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------

I see in your photo (7th.photo of POST #75) of the chalk line on the hood pad, you did not get a complete seal. The part where the hood pad drops app. 3/4" it is NOT touching.

I have the same problem on mine the seal can't go that extra 3/4", so we are NOT getting a complete 36" seal.

You can see what I am talking about on page#3 Post #75 of this Thread................The hood pad drops 3/4" away from the seal in the place where it can't touch. (no chalk line there)

I put some chalk on mine after I did the install. I am getting a good seal all along the edge. It has been on the car a few weeks now and it has a small indention in the hood pad and it appears to be sealed all the way around.

The spot that has the 3/4" raised area is a very short distance and mine seems to be making contact in that area as well.

Please Ck. it again with chalk..... It may "seem" to be making contact but I am sure that APP. 12" part of the 36" seal is not.

You can see on MY PHOTO where the chalk ends.
IT may look like a short distance but the box curves out to the center of the car.
The gap in my photo is 9"in a straight line BUT 12" following the curve on the seal.
You can see in the PHOTO where the hood pad drops away 3/4"........
It is NOT possible for the seal to follow that 3/4"drop..............
__________________________________________________ __________
Bottom line:....We are only getting 24" to seal out of the 36"seal..............
That unsealed part is over the engine, so we are pulling in Hot air in that 12" section..................

The airbox is hand trimmed from the mold. There could be differences in the height and contour of the box. Depends on the "trim template" used.

Gentleman,

The seal that is mounted on the top of the air box is designed to block the surrounding engine compartment heat from the filter area inside of the box with the hood closed.

The best materials are used for the seal to be resistant to vibration, chemicals and compliance. Creating an intended “air tight” seal can result in damage to the hood mat, creating debris from the mat that makes a mess in the engine compartment or the hood not closing properly due to the large degree of varying tolerances found from one vehicle to the next. These varying tolerances are common and vehicles have adjustable rubber bumpers mounted on the radiator sore support and inner fenders to address these tolerances. Proper adjustment of these bumpers keeps body lines properly aligned and a tight seal from the air box may hinder this. We carefully design the hood seal to provide the best seal while avoiding fit issues that result from an “air tight” seal. Inner hood contours may consist of tight radiuses and sharp corners that create slight gaps between the hood seal and the engine hood or hood mat. These small gaps uncommonly exist and do not result in measurable inlet air temperatures or loss of engine performance. Careful inspection from one vehicle to the next will show varying thicknesses of fender mounting shims, hood hinge shims and adjustment of rubber hood bumpers. Our air box and hood seal is designed to fit these tolerances with out any fit issues while providing adequate separation of engine heat from the air filter.

Thanks,
David

I put chalk on my air box again and took a photo of it to show the seal I'm getting on mine. As you can see in the photo, it looks like it has a seal all the way around.

Also, here is a teaser photo. More to come when everything is finished......

Just got my intake installed. The only problem I had was I couldn't get the bolt in the side mount where you take the Ground Lug out. I couldn't get the bolt in to hold the bracket on so I just left it off and stuck the Ground Lug in the hole in the CAB to plug the hole.

Had the same problem. Just enlarge the hole in the bracket to give yourself some room for adjustment. A drill press is a handy tool!

I dunno maybe I worded my previous post wrong.

The bolt fits IN the bracket just fine, I can't get the bolt to screw into the panel of the car, it just goes crooked like the hole is stripped but it's not stripped since I can put the Ground Lug back in the hole just fine.

Leaving it out won't affect anything so I'm not worried about it.

The box really should be attached in that 3rd. place.

Maybe the bolt you are trying to screw in is NOT the right one, that's why it will not screw in ........
(ck. fig.#12... 6mmx12mm hex bolt).....Try to screw it in without the bracket if you can't then it is the wrong bolt......
It will be harder to get at it now that you have the box attached. You could bend the box back a little with a small block or something to get at it.

You said the hole is not stripped, So the bolt is stripped or it's the wrong size !
You can't do it with the ground lug attached to the bracket.

Could you possibly due an audio clip of the GMPP ? I have it ordered and am curious about the sound...I have an Airaid on another car....good CAI !
Oh yeah, just thought I would mention this, you can get a prefilter sock that goes over the filter...its easy to clean and saves time...also ,I do not use the lubricant ,it will sling a code as soon as that oil hits the mass air sensor...thats a problem in the CAI industry....I use the pre filter sock...then ya dont need the oil...just my 2 cents...hope this helps.

If you notice the intake tube isn't black anymore. It has the water transfer printing done or better known as hydro carbon fiber. It is going to be re-done, we didn't quite like the way it came out the first time. It was the first Airaid v6 tube he did I believe. It is a hit and miss with this stuff the first time or two.

I am working with the guy from Lone Star Hydrografx here in Spring, TX. I am having several items done and when it all gets finished, I'll be posting up some photos of everything. This just really brings the plain black plastic stuff under the hood to life. I can't wait to see my engine cover when it's done. He sent me a photo of my original engine cover he was trying first before he started on my painted one so he could get an idea how it will work out. Let me tell you, the v6 cover is going to look so much better this way.

If you want some stuff dipped, check 'em out. He is a member on this site and tell him Kelly sent ya.

Just gives it the appearance that it is carbon fiber.
