Talking ADM Race Intake IAT Test (VIDEO AND SCAN LOG - STEP INSIDE)

I recorded this video of the ADM Race Intake to demonstrate the benefits of the included Air Scoop that channels air into the air box. Attached is the HPTuners scan log.

The reaction to the quality of the air fed to the air box even surprised us. The scan log shows that the idling IAT's reached 72 degrees before I even started moving. CASUALLY reaching 52 mph the IAT's were 57 degrees in 54 degree Ambient temps. The log shows that at 61 mph the IAT's were 55 degrees in 54 degree Ambient temps.

What does all this mean? As soon as the car starts moving you are getting near ambient air to the filter. The colder the air ingested by the engine has a direct relationship to power. In the automotive performance engineering world it is readily accepted that for every 10 degrees the combustion cycle is reduced you gain 1% power.

This colder air temp effect is the reason your car feels better in the cold winter air. Or it seems to feel better at night than in the heat of the day. The reason is the air temps in the combustion cycle are lower thus making more power.

The engineering behind the air scoop was to channel the absolute best air temps directly into the air box.

YES

$499 for the Strret
$599 for the Race (which requires deleting the water bottle in order to install the Air Scoop)

I will work to get access to a car and repeat the test with the Street Version.

When have you crawled under yours to change the intake?

My point exactly.

I'm too damn lazy. My intention was to demonstrate the benefit of the RACE SCOOP and the Street version has no RACE SCOOP so it is kind of counter productive to have the Street Lid and water bottle on my car.

OK. The reason for all the data and the video is we were unfortunately handicapped during Ted's testing of all the intakes. We sent both Street and Race versions.

The owner of the car opted not to have the air break in the front grill modified. We can surely appreciate his position. We offered to pay for a new air damn and even allow him to keep the Race Intake for 100% free and he could keep it or sell it. The owner was not willing and this was unfortunate for us so I have set out to get the FACTS about our Race Version out there.

With all these factors involved we felt compelled to put some more data out related to our Race Version ESPECIALLY since other vendors were stating it was not worth wasting your time trying to get Ambient air temps to the engine and our Race Version can even hit Ambient but it is typically at 1 degree of separation around 60+ mph. So by second gear on the track the car is getting within 1 degree of the Ambient air.

Dude .. you could have done the other test with the amount of time you took to write this post

Just busting your balls man !!!!! .. when you want to do a street version and record some data on a supercharged car ... ping me and you can do that

Would like to see how the others stack up to this, since, afterall, that is the purpose of a cold air intake. I'd be willing to bet that none of the competition is within 20 degrees of ambient without a frontal scoop to collect ambient air and direct it to the filter.

I think with the testing being done by a company recently, there were a few that were around the same or a little better than the ADM setup. It was those and the ADM that would be recommended by that company and I believe has been.

I took my car in on friday to do a baseline dyno and then get cam transplant. The first pull was 377HP. Then we opened the OEM intake to let more air in, next pull was around 385, this car was starving for air and running rich, about 12 to 1. Then we decided to see what it would do with the ADM intake in the engine bay without the box, this way the MAF was in the tube and not in the box. Next pull was 399. This shows how hungry this engine is for air, I also have ARH headers and 3" Flowmasters to the tips.

The cam is going in on monday and tuesday as well as the ADM race version installed complete. Our tuner will be back on wednesday to finish the job. I'm hoping to get enough pics to help CamaroSpike with his DIY cam page he wants to do on Camaro5. I wil be posting a few pics myself.
