Man 2SS, what's your deal with the all the Stang hate?

The OP said he was considering a Stang or Camaro. Yet you have to say he should go for a Camaro or Challenger.

And I love how you say that Stangs aren't really that special unless you put some serious money in them, right after you said his wife's tuned Stang may well beat his modded Challenger!

Guys/Gals, for the love of God, chill out. Obviously some of you get me, some don't. I gave up trying to be too serious on these forums a long time ago. This is your forum, I'm a visitor (as I am not a current Camaro owner). Just trying to help this young man out and explore all options. It doesn't have to be a "who has the biggest wiener contest", however, for those of you who believe all the muscle car rags that say the Challenger is a dog, as an owner, I will throw the BS flag. I own one and I know what it will do. I know everybody loves their cars but anything is possible with any car.

With that said, who's next?

No not really.

Its really a inside joke. There was a discussion elsewhere about it, and the owner claimed there were none. Of course others came in to defend it and said the same thing, so it was said that NO CAMARO owner would ever admit to it.

Thus my comment. As I said, you had to be there.

I just got denied a test Drive of a Camaro SS... Any thoughts? I wanted to make my decision as to whether or not the Camaro was worth waiting for based on a test drive... That's logical right?

I drove a mustang and have only positive things to say about it. I'm hoping I enjoy driving the SS more. This way I can say I spent more on a Camaro because it drives better!

Do I have to put my check book on the table to test drive a Camaro?

Ran into the same thing when looking at SRT's. Raised hell and the manager relented. Bought the RT instead. I can turn a RT into a SRT for less than $8000.
You can rent one, might be better. One of the rental car company's has them, don't know which one.

Raising hell sounds cheaper. Even if the salesman has to drive it, that's fine.

I can afford the SS2, I just don't want to get ripped off and spend more on an SS2 than I would in the near future, just to have it NOW NOW NOW!

I can afford a 2SS, but I dont want to spend 3-4 THOUSAND more than the GT and then get raped on another 2 grand in interest if all I had to do was be patient to get it at 0% and some cash incentives!!!

Now I fully accept the SS is worth more than the GT, as it is indeed a better car. But I wonder if the gap in price will shrink soon... I suggest in a few months the SS may drop a bit closer to the GT. Does anyone else agree?

So, now I'm just wondering if there will be Camaro "March madness" where I can get one at 0% or a cash rebate or something. If not, then I'll resign myself to the Toyota Camry I drive now for another year or so and put this new car bug outa my mind until then... If GM is still not willing to play ball... I may likely wind up with a GT. Much as I love the SS, I'm cheap.

Should I wait, or are today's prices what tomorrow's prices gonna be for the SS.

Also, as to the suggestion of buying online... I haven't found any websites online that do any more than refer me to a dealer quote. Please, if you have any ideas on buying the 2SS online, direct me!!!

WhiteCrane,.......to end the guessing games, it's quite clear you have a passion for this car(camaro), just buy it now. From what I've heard from my dealers here, next year when the cars actually arrive on the lot, the SS' is going to go for 40,000 not including taxes,titles,...they admitted they are going to do a "dealer markup". I believe them, hell, there is a 1LT on the lot right now going for 30,000 not including tax,.....I GOT MY 1SS for 30,000!! WTF??

Just buy it now and avoid the risk of waiting!

Found ours on Autotrader, then linked to the dealer's website. Had to contact one particular person at the dealer who worked in fleet. There were no negotiations on the price as it was so low, but got another $2000 off in incentives. Keep looking.

Well, that may be the case for you. But I have 5 2SS's sitting within 5 miles of my house, all selling for MSRP, and that's now. Just wait until the spring...

My thoughts are.... read your previous post
Quote:
I'm 24.
Never bought a new car, or any car from a dealership for that matter
You've never bought a car from a dealership new or used. You are young. And you are driving an 11 year old car.

They aren't going to take you serious.
If you have the cash to buy. Prove it to them. If you have the credit to get approved, then show up either with pre approved letter from your bank, or let them run your credit.

I PROMISE YOU, if you can do those things and they know you are a qualified buyer. they will let you drive in a heartbeat.

if they let every 24 year old with an 11 year old car test drive a Camaro, they would have lines at the door with driver's license in hand, waiting there turn.

Sorry but that is the way it is.

I got denied to test drive a G8 GT at first, because I told them, I had some negative equity in my trade, and was sure if they could work out a deal or not. with zero down.

So I went to their competitor and not only test drove it, but bought it on the spot.

If you used that logic, than you would honestly never buy a car considering there is a very good chance that the next year another company will release a better car. I'm expecting Ford and GM to go back in forth to who has the best muscle car in this current generation. Test drive all 3, and find what suits you best.

As stated before...

Right Now. Camaro SS > Mustang GT > V6 Camaro

Either buy the 2SS now or wait on the 2011 Mustang as it will be more comparable to the Camaro.

"wait on the 2011 Mustang as it will be more comparable to the Camaro."

This is nothing more than a rumor at this time. Same as the 6.4L Hemi in Challengers with 450-500 hp.

All or Nothing: That avatar is priceless: I love Bush.

Now, let's get back on track now: Girls in Camaro's...

Little more than a rumor rham48. The engine specs are the worst kept secret at ford. The only thing people are waiting for if the engine will put out 400 or 425 HP. We have less than a month to find out.
