$30k is acceptable. It's just a touch more than the premium Mustang GT, but it has enough in features to justify it. However, let's hope the mainstream public realizes it as well; at a glance, people will notice first that this costs more than the Mustang. Again, if I were GM I'd give it a bare bones trim that came in at exactly or a bit below the bare bones Mustang GT, but I'm very glad they didn't shoot themselves in the foot by assigning it a price tag over 30k.

That's assuming this information is reliable; this is Edmunds after all.

Not to mention the extra 100+ bhp, FE3 suspension (eqaul to the Ford Racing Handling Package which is 2k extra), and 6 speed transmissions standard.

30k i got say that price just blew me away, i would defiantly go for a camaro, 30k for a camaro, that got nearly less 2hp than the challenger SRT-8, for 10k less, better designed, better looking interior, and i think is faster as well for just 30k, im still amazed how GM, could do it all for 30k.

But it kinda sucks, that you have to pay around 120-150k dollars here in denmark, to get your camaro, 30k for the camaro, and the rest is taxes

I agree completely, GM has said "priced competitively" and I have to think comparitively as well. A solid axle 300hp Mustang GT = 425hp IRS RS/SS Camaro? From Ford.com website the Mustang prices are as follows; Ford Mustang 2009 Vehicle Comparison Printable Report Ford Vehicles.pdf

Base V6 -----------------------$19,735.00 210hp
V6 Premium ------------------ $21,735.00 210hp
V6 Pony Pk --------------------$22,485.00 210hp
GT------------------------------$26,425.00 300hp
Gt Plus-------------------------$28,375.00 300hp
Shelby GT500 -----------------$42,685.00 500hp
Shelby GT500KR --------------$79,995.00 540hp est.

You decide what you think is realistic, I truly hope and pray that the RS/SS comes in at 29K. I believe, IMHO, it will probably come in somewhere between the GT Plus and the GT500 and closer to the GT500 for the RS/SS. Your definitely getting more than the GT Plus in the SS but you may be getting slightly less than the GT500 with the RS/SS. I say less only from a hp stand point, overall the Camaro brings much more to the table.

I sure hope that if this logic is correct that the Z28 isn't priced competitively with the GT500KR

For the pricing, if GM wants the SS to be a volume car, while stealing some Mustang sales, they need to price it no more that 1-2 K over the premium GT, so 30.5K or less, in my opinion. That would be the base SS, which should also include a high level of standard equipment. My .02 worth..

No one ever said RS/SS. Keep that in mind; we're talking about a simple SS. RS will be an added-cost option, and ought not to be included.

And yes 30k is realistic; believe it or no. You seem to be under the assumption that hp is directly tied to $$, and that's just not true. They are going to price it competitively with it's competing trim level, not with it's comparative hp. The trim levels are Mustang V6 = Camaro LS, and Mustang GT = Camaro SS.

"A solid axle 300hp Mustang GT = 425hp IRS RS/SS Camaro"

Do you see the value? Do you understand now all the comments about "blowing away the competition"?

Well it's not bad, but the front bumper of the lower models, i.e. RS and stuff, looks more agressive than the one of the SS model. The SS-front-bumper looks like the chin of beaves. Now here is the question: "Will be there any model of the camaro with a v8 bigblock AND with the front bumper of the RS, may it be the RS/SS?" I also heard, that the RS/SS look for 99 per cent like the concept. Is that true?

All in all, the Camaro rocks, but the design is sensible! ;(

Hopefully there isn't a $20 - $30K dealership mark up on the SS as there is with the Challenger.

30.000 k is not guaranteed for a plain jane SS until GM releases OFFICIAL PRICES I would not count on it , remember what GM said , the Camaro will be PREMIUM PRICED vs the competition , I will look for the link but I remember reading this for shure...
