CAMARO POSTPONED?

Recent rumors have been spread that the camaro 2008 has been postponed for another year, has anyone heard of this, and if so, does anyone have proof that these remarks are valid.

I would need to see some sort of proof for me to believe this. Besides, our release date is very broad - sometime in 2008/2009.

from what i have heard, a 2009 camaro would come out in the months of september - december of 2008. The rumors that i have heard is that a 2010 camaro would be released 2009 in september - december. I dont know how valid this is, but i gathered this information from someone who said that they talked to a dealer.

Both of those statements can be accounted for as correct. Only-out of context...

There have been many hints from GM, and rumors among auto review campanys that the 2009 Camaro will actually be released in Late 2008.

This is where the context is mising, the Convertible Camaro will be released a year after the coupe. Hence your 2010 release year.

I highly doubt it has been postponed-no, you know what? I will swear my life on it. TAG once put it real well, I think - better to advertise a later release year and release it early, than plan a early release year and be delayed. This is what GM did I'm sure. 2009 for sure!!!

All I've heard from the beginning is it would begin production in 4th Quarter '08 to be released in 1st Quarter '09.

Never heard anything about any 2008 release date...

Edit- When exactly does that mean they'd begin taking special orders for the Camaro? 6 months ahead of time? More? 6 months would mean this time next year you'd be able to order your Camaro...

Thanks, Dragon. You got it.

Ok. No naming names. I have been told the following and unless GM has some crazy problem or the gov't starts screwing them over with emissions/EPA/gas reductions stuff, the following will take place.

GM is seriously hoping to have the Camaro out in late 08. PERIOD. GM can not say for fact that it will be out in late 08 due to all the unforseen problems that go along with building a new car from a clean slate (setting up the plant, having other cars finish in time to get the Camaro started, finding suppliers, getting road testing done, etc, etc.). Anything can happen which could put them back. Then again, it could run smoothly and they might not encounter any problems at all. If everything falls into place, it is very possible that we will see the Camaro in lots in the 4th quarter of 08.

GM wants this out for people to buy and so GM can rake in the money as soon as possible. I believe everyone can agree to this. BUT, they can't go telling everyone get ready for 4th quarter 08 when something could happen. This is why GM is saying beginning 09. Could you imagine the upset folks expecting 08 only to be let down not to mention how that would make GM look? They are playing it safe by saying 09 and are hoping 08.

There was a video game back a few years ago, somebody here may remember-Halo 2, they promised a release in Fall, then delayed until the next spring, then even longer to the summer...wasn't good for the face of the Company. people were pissed off everywhere.

Believe me...the sources we have here don't feed us BS. But, there is the fact that things change and this could cause problems when saying this or that will happen for sure. I firmly believe post #7 and what was said to me.

4th Quarter '08 would make for a very nice Christmas present to myself.

They might have been pissed but it didn't stop HALO 2 from getting in the record books for making the most money in a 24 hour period in the games and the entertainment industry selling $125 MILLION in gross receipts in just 24 hours. lol

sure, but that was because of two things: It was already a highly anticipated game - Halo rocked - and two, because that waiting added to the want factor...which is what I hope will happen with GM, 2009 is a long way away

they always release the new model in sept. and the new camaro will be released Sept. 08. with the convertable released sept 09. Unfortunately, it wont be a True 40th, tho there were rumors that they were going to label it as a 40th due to the new model paying homage to the 69 ("greatest year for the Camaro") If they would have gotten their asses in gear and released it at the end of 06 as a true 40th ann. 07 Camaro it would have sold like no tomorrow.
the fact that there is so much buildup about it can work against sales for the car. it will allow those who aren't true die hard camaro people to think more about buying it over the new corvette, or...dare I say it, the mustang.

you have to be careful when marketing things like this. for instance, one of the best things about the new transformers movie is the fact that while screenshots and trailers have been leaked and shown to the public and the hard core fans have already read the script (which changed a lot during shooting) there hasn't been a whole lot shown about the movie, which leaves that much more to be desired. Even if the movie is a flop (which I know it wont be), by not "over-indulging" people with it, they keep the interest alive.
Everyone knows what the new camaro will look like, what options it will have (tho some are still being debated), we have had the chance to delve into every detail of the car. I know personally quite a few people who said that they would not buy it if it comes with IRS just for that fact.
I honestly wish that they would have released it as an 07 model so that they could work all the kinks out of it by getting the response from the public so that by the time I can afford one things are runnin strong from the get-go.
But oh well. I started this rant, then had to stop for work purposes and forgot where I was going with it........

CAMAROs RULE!!!!!

and so do TRANSFORMERS!!!!

but more so than that... CAMARO TRANSFORMERS RULE!!!! BUMBLEBEE FTW!

If the new Camaro costs as much as a new C6 (and if I had that kind of money) I wouldn't buy the Camaro. Because it isn't a Camaro anymore. The whole point of the car was top notch performance UNDER a Vette price tag. Just my opinion though.

The Camaro will never be C6 money - it's market just isn't aimed that high. Besides that, it's still GM and they'd have to be pretty stupid to have these cars compete in that market segment.

Exaclty, the Camaro will NEVER even come close to the Vette pricing - or else that's a signal that one of two things, or both could be happening...The Camaro is being marketed towards the upper end, luxury car buyers, and the Vette is being marketed towards the lower end "want a fun car to drive" people....I don't think so

As for the 'IRS' comment, even if they hadn't released that info, people aren't going to buy a car simply because it looks good, they will check into it, ask questions. The IRS will come up inevitably, and then they still won't buy it - stupid if you ask, me - but the IRS announcement didn't hurt or help, I don't think.
