6 Speed ManualQuestion ?
I have a quick question. SO the camaro will come in 6 speed manual transmission. so my question is Where is the R or reverse gear going to be on the Shift knob ? is it going to be beside 1st gear to the LEFT. or is going to be FAR right beside the 6th gear ?
I hate it when its beside 1st gear like in the pic below. http://www.peterbeers.net/vw_roadtri...ed_Lighted.JPG |

I think the pictures seemed to indicate it would be like the picture above. Unfortunately.

I think thats the best place for R on a 6 speed. Becuase if you dont want to back up and you go stright into 1st you dont have to worry about it being in the way after 5th(I'm used to a 5 speed.) Thats just me though.

I've had 6 speeds with it in both areas and I can honestly say I prefer it over to the left of 1st. Really though it's not that big of a difference.

The specs above are correct. They are using a more exotic upgraded tranny for the high end engines.
I like the automatic myself. You just click it into Manual mode and use the paddles anyway. |

The Aisin Warner setup and other trannys like them have the reverse safety feature anyway, where you have to push the stick down towards the floor before putting it into the R slot.

Thank goodness it'll be like this. I swear...if it had to change from my current 02 SS Hurst short throw, I'd be lost backing into people at stop lights.... |

Anyone got any idea what the Hurst shifter will look like that they are offering as the dealer install? I relly liked the look of the concept shifter, would be nice if it looked something like it.

The position in the pic is the easiest for backing up. It's right beside 1st, which is what most people would put the selector into after they turn the car off and pull the emergency brake up. You go to back up the next time you start your car and it's 1 over, not all the way on the right side.

I was just going to post about the CTS-V seen here, CTS-V test, and ask the question why reverse was in a different spot. Question answered.
