Kind of like the fact the its not that loud. Many cops here in NY are a real pain about that and i have gotten tickets in the past for a loud exhuast.

Like? I love the sound. It is aggressive, yet mild. There is a bit of thinness, as scrming calls it, or raspiness, but it is over quickly and lends itself to a bit of an exotic note. I'm very pleased, I hope I got similiar gains with mine!

would love to know how the sound compares to the solo exhaust (sound,gains, ect) and second im not a fan of tips that are just bolted on....hello, why cant these be welded on to the mufflers like most systems?

Yes and he said the gains were 20lbs torque & 13 HP ............I was thinking if he is getting those gains with more restrictive & Much milder sounding Flowmaster mufflers we should be getting even better gains with our MRT system with small less restrictive Aero resonators!

And now you showed that we do.......

Thing is there are way to many variables to say the Flowmaster seen more gains... Just repositioning a car on the dyno can really affect the numbers. SAE correction tries to equalize things for changes in the weather but it's not perfect... During my 100% stock baseline dyno session my HP # varied from 241 to 248.... All of my comparison dyno sheets use the 248 run but I could have easily picked the 241 sheet to show more of gain...

So really dyno numbers are just a good ballpark number... I know that dyno numbers are not precise... they give me a good idea if a mod is helping... I then head to the track to see if I can see an improvement there! So dyno tested and track proven! LOL!

Ok... here's the Ver 1.0 vs 2.0 dyno sheet... Ver 2.0 actually shows that it made MORE HP/TQ than ver 1.0!




Now I don't think Ver 2.0 made more than Ver 1.0... I think they are basically identical when it comes to HP/TQ gain... After I dynoed Ver. 2.0 I went straight to the track and ran a 14.33 vs the 14.32 I got with Ver 1.0 (similar weather conditions...)

That is why I don't get really all that hung up on dyno numbers...

But if a manufacturer claims 20 RWHP gain, I better see SOME THING on the dyno! And then of course I head to the track and try to back it up there too! It maybe cliche but... dyno tested and track proven!

I heard rolnslo's solo exhaust this past Saturday night and it sounds pretty good. He has the manual so it does sound a little different then the auto because the auto comes with the extra resonators. It is quiet at idle but has a nice sound to it when revved up.

As far as the bolted on tips, you can always have them welded.

I went a head and pulled the trigger on something close to the Flowmaster axle back listed above.

I ordered 2 of the Flowmaster 40 Series Delta Flow mufflers item# 842543 and 2 of the Flowmaster tips item# 15365 which are clamped on. I plan on having the muffler shop tack-weld the tips in place so I don't have to worry about them coming off. I know the mufflers I ordered are the ones Flowmaster is using for the axle back system and I got a tip that is close if not the exact one they are using. I'm getting them for Summit shipped next day air with a total of #357.61 for everything including the next day air. It would have been $307.61 without the next day air, but I'm one of those kind of guys that wants it NOW! The shop I talked to is going to remove the stock mufflers and bend some new stainless pipe, make hangers, and install the new stuff for $100.00 labor. I'm actually coming out about 120 bucks cheaper doing it this way and if I don't like it, I can always take it off and order something else.

I checked with Flowmaster and they are not planning a cat back system for the LLT. Claim there is no need with the gains they are getting with the axle back.

Until a company comes up with some drastic hp and torque improvements with a cat back, there is no need for one. As stated somewhere around here, the gains would be a lot more if we were going from a single exhaust to a dual exhaust. Since it already has a dual system, the gains won't be as impressive.

I can only speak for myself but I think the general consensus is, we are changing the stock exhaust out to improve the sound coming out the ass end of this car.

Actually... I'm not sure about the gains of a single vs dual... the 2005-2009 (not sure about the 2010) 4.0L V6 Mustang is 2.25 down pipes to a Y pipe and then 2.5 back to single muffler... Biggest gain was just replacing the muffler. That was good for about 10RWHP (peak!). Number of guys then switched to a dual setup and only seen like 2 or 3 RWHP gain, if that... So there really was not big gain by converting to duals... and that's with a larger 4.0L motor...

Definitely alot more to the physics of this than just 'bigger is better'. Would like to see a longer clip on the sound of this system. I have always liked flowmaster, but so tough to compare these exhausts without hearing them in person.
