V-6 Engine cover mods

Anmyone have any good ideas on painting modding their V-6 Engine cover? I just don't like the plain black with my new Air Raid CAI. Any suggestions welcome

I took mine off for now, I think the intake manifold looks good. At some point I may get the manifold painted in some color scheme.

Can it be painted without the heat affecting it? I noticed some little type of "dust" on it the other day when we had some nice weather

Hi - temp engine paint should do the trick. I also have the Airaid but may swap it out with the Vararam if it ever comes out. I was told by Vararam they would be available in January, although I wouldn't bet on that. I think the straight inline look of the OTR would look good flowing into a painted manifold.

I may have a Airaid for sale at some point! lol

I think it can be done in the factory color paint.Midwest Auto Gear does these in factory Ford colors for the Mustang.I sent them an e-mail inquiry about doing the same for Camaros. They also do custom air brush designs.
The plain black is pretty "blah" isn't it.BTW in your signature you have a picture of a little badge with your cars info.Where did you get that?

Wonder how much it would be to just buy the cover from the 08 and up Cadillac 3.6 and just replace the center decal/emblem thingy with the one from the chevy??

It looks like the same cover to me...anyone else know forsure?

It looks nicer...

EDIT: Found at fastgmparts.com for just under $75, but I'm sure its much cheaper to paint yourself.

Got it from one of our members here on Camaro5. DragonZ28 runs emblempros.com. They are customizable and high quality. Roger will get back to you in a few days if you contact their web e-mail.

I decided to wrap my cover instead of paint. So far so good.

Autozone sells an etching flat clear primer for automotive plastics. I used mineral spirts to clean off the grease and 2 coats of the primer, followed by paint. 2000 miles since done and no issues. If you want it smooth you will need to sand down the textured finish.

Removed the hood pad from the car, using blue painters tape; taped off the bow tie from the inside edge of the embosed area. Used the same silver Ice paint with 2-3 coats let dry remove tape. The darker spots is only based on light reflection as it feels and looks like silver suade type materiel once I was finished.

Tha Model was a promotional item from Dr. Pepper during the 23 Camaros that they gave away in 2009. The size I am guessing is like 1/10th scale.

Very nice job. What type of wrap did you use? It looks like it was airbrushed on.

It's a G5CR intake. I ordered it from Ebay. It had the "G5CR" lettering on it but I removed it.

We are actually in the process of coming up with some sick designs for the V6 engine cover. Keep your eye out.
