Thumbs up 2010 SEMA Camaro "Black" heading for showroom floor

UPDATE 11/3/08: OFFICIAL GM RELEASED PICS & INFO:
from -- http://www.camaro5.com/forums/showthread.php?t=9224

Camaro Black Concept
It's hard to go unnoticed in a 2010 Camaro, but the Camaro Black Concept suggests a stealthy approach to street style. From its matte black-finished hood and ground effects to its dark wheels and red-glowing HID headlamp halo rings, the Camaro Black Concept is a sinister-looking urban tuner vehicle.

The Camaro Black Concept prowls the streets with the following equipment:

* Chevy Accessories ground effects package and rear diffuser
* High-intensity discharge headlamps with unique red "halo ring" color
* Revised, darker grille finish
* RS tail lamps with dark-tinted lenses
* Color-matched exterior badging
* SS-model spoiler
* Matte black hood finish
* Tinted glass
* Chevy Accessories 21-inch wheels with darkened finish
* Brembo four-wheel disc brake package

The interior also carries a slightly sinister ambience, with:

* Red LED instrument lighting and red footwell ambient lighting
* Black chrome trim accents
* Dark-finished accents, including the shift knob, radio face, steering wheel ring, gauge trim and door handles
* Custom sill plates
* Leather-covered seats with grey accent stitching

The Camaro Black Concept also features Chevy Accessories' premium audio upgrade package, along with MTX speakers.

Under the hood is the production 3.6L V-6 that produces 300 horsepower. A Chevy Accessories engine cover provides a suitable accent.

Chevy has released a single teaser-style image of their 2008 SEMA show-bound Camaro Black, described only as "a dark and mysterious interpreta." We're pretty sure they meant "interpretation" but ran into character limitations in their imaging software. Regardless, the Camaro Black show car actually looks to be a gunmetal gray based on the photo and appears decked out with a sinister-looking body kit and the requisite SEMA monster alloy wheels shod in low-profile rubber. The red glow from the headlights may also indicate some sort of LED illumination kit, but what you see is all we know at this point; we'll either get a constant dribble of teasers a-la 2010 Mustang or just bring you the goods from the Vegas show floor in two weeks.

+2 Those red halos look sweet. I wonder if it's a DOT problem to use them (i.e. because it looks too much like a police car with the lights on or something.) I know we can have blue or red colored bug deflectors here in CA if I'm not mistaken.

Yea, I believe any red before the B pillar is illegal in Florida.

I'm going to laugh if they actually put a Camaro that looks like that on the floor at SEMA. Seriously, think about it after spending a few seconds looking at the rendering...that's a V6! No mailslot, LS/LT front facia, what appear to be non-brembo brakes.

I'm not knocking the V6 at all...I'll be buying one but c'mon GM, put out an honest to goodness loaded and decked out SS for all to see at SEMA. If they use a V6, they are not helping the ricer image of the body kit/big wheel combo.

uuhhhh, i think they plan on having a few there. lets not get all worked up because they have show us 1 of their show cars. either way it looks bad ass and not ricey at all. have you ever see nany of the thousand body kits for mustangs , which are HUGE hits for the mustangs? the wheels are only 1" bigger than the stock wheels, whats the deal with raggin on them? actually it has the brembos on it if you look at the picture. the v6 has 1 piston up from. this has the 4 piston setup.

I would be afraid of driving over speedbumps with the body kit.

I was simply making an observation so chill...I was merely pointing out that if they are going to put a bad ass looking black car out there for SEMA, they might as well do it with an SS. At least that way they can back up the statement they are trying to make with all the parts from GM Accessories.

Yes, I've seen the body kits for the mustangs and most look like crap. I wouldn't exactly call them a HUGE hit either. As for the wheels, I was not ragging on the 21's. I like them. My ricer comment was describing people that put low profile tires on big wheels, attach a bunch of plastic (aka body kits) to their underpowered econo cars that aren't able to keep up with the top of the line models when it comes to performance. Drive a top of the line model with all the add-ons and it (usually) isn't as bad. Why? Because they can back up the "performance" look with actual performance.

I think the car looks great and I really like the body kit. I just don`t really care for the red halos, but maybe thats just me.

wow, I'm gushing over the red halo's, not the DUB rims so much, but the black with red halo's is definitely BA.
