... isn't anybody going to do the "French & Italian women are hairy" joke? ... anybody? I must have the only stereotype-driven sense of humor here.

She is definitely more hairy than the Camaro SS. A hairy beast if you ask me, especially since she is French (no disrespect to any French on this site, just joking ) . Ahh but the beauty that the Camaro is makes me can't wait to get into one..

If that lady gets to read this thread, I'm sure she's getting a kick out of it. You are very pretty wherever you are from... We just all are in love with this car and we all have issue's....

Actually this woman is very beautiful - no matter some little blond hair on her arm - besides she probably doesn't give a F what we nerds think about.

So, how did the french people reacted to the new Camaro? What where their first up close impressions or not about this vehicle on the show?

I just wonder if they were like: "oh hou la la" or perhaps "ce qui est cette merde"

As i said in my other post with my personal pix of the show, french people were really amazed and stuck like trees ; some of them knew the car from "transformers" - this means that, just like me, we saw american legends back from their 90's hashes. I mean I was a great american car lover (the sound of US V8 is something) but as you began to copy japanese style outside with no quality inside, american cars lost their image ; another very important thing here in Europe our gas is SOOOO expensive and the ancient V8 generation were soooo thirsty => the lost of identity + thirsty engines = let's buy our cars or japanese ones.

The things have changed since Ford took the challenge to reborn the legendary Mustang, then Dodge and now Chevrolet (I hope Pontiac will reborn the Trans-am , one of my favorite with the Cam).

In these hard economic days people want to dream and the Camaro is that kind of car that can make people forget the situation. I hope so much that Chevrolet will take the challenge to sell the car here in france because I'm getting boared with german "no soul" cars Audi, VW, Mercedes even Porsche are my grand dad's car ; they look and sound so OLD to me - If I was really rich I would probably buy a Maserati or Aston Martin but certainly not a german truck...

"Wayne Brannon, executive director of Chevrolet Europe, told Automotive News Europe : "I want the car for our lineup, But we want it to be a good business case. We are considering it."
Brannon said he would like to make a decision by the first quarter of next year. He said a number of factors will be considered in the decision, including engineering issues for Europe, emission requirements and volume.
"We would not look at it as a huge volume opportunity," Brannon said. "But the project has to make sense."
Chevrolet Europe says there already has been a positive reaction to the car from dealers and customers.
The sales expectations probably won't be large because American muscle cars are minor players in the European market.
Ford, for example, sold 441 Mustangs through six months this year, according to British market researcher JATO Dynamics. That's down from 463 during the same period last year but up substantially from 2004, when Ford sold just 70.
Coupes are also a niche segment. In the last two years, carmakers have sold an average of 30,000 units as customers increasingly switch to the coupe-cabriolet segment. That market is now nearly 10 times the size of the coupe segment, JATO reports."
(taken from www.autoweek.com)

So please mister Chevrolet don't forget that Camaro comes from the french word "camarade" (comrade) !

P.S. : "ce qui est cette merde" isn't french, the right spelling is : "qu'est ce que c'est que cette merde !" (generally said towards japanese cars )

That is the answer and the problem isn't it. That's whats so exciting about the mustang, challenger and camaro they bring an american identity back to american cars. They would never be confused for anything other than american cars, they are finally instantly recognizable for what they are.

I somehow do not agree with my french comrade: american cars are hitorically poorly finished. And I love that, plastic parts not fitting and so on ... If I wanted high interior standards, I'd buy a BMW ...

I love thirsty engine too. Greens and state taxes can go to hell. It's expensive .. well movie theaters are expensive too ... but movies aren't s funny as big engines ...

But somehow my french comrade is right too ... cause I'm french only cause my passeport says "french" ... I'm prolly the most unfrench french you can find ...

Regarding people's reaction at the show, they were quite different when I was there ... it was more something like "what's that? - well huh ... it's a "camaro" (reading the camaro tag on the car) ... - a what? - a camaro, some kinda old american sportscar - it's beautiful but will never gonna make it in europe"..

Hopefully!

hello punk,
uuuuh, you didn't see the last average segment german cars, plastics are badly assembled and make noise just like my peugeot - recently a friend of mine bought an Audi A4 convertible and the quality was so poor for the price that he sold it back 3 months after ; even a VW touareg is assembled like shit inside - So the great german quality is a blast from the past and you have to go far deeper in segmentation (luxury cars) to have real inside quality - I will still prefer to buy a Peugeot 308CC rather than an EOS or an ugly A3 or BMW convertible - the only german cars i really love are the Mercedes SL & Porsche boxster, the rest can go to hell.

She looked good when the picture was adjusted to the browser size. Then I clicked to see it full size and not so much.

Wait, that's France. Okay, explains the hair.
