2LT IOM, IO interior, black stripes, documenting my changes

Thanks for checking in and seeing my changes.

Little background.

I placed my order for my Camaro on Feb. 17. 2010. 2LT with IOM paint, IO interior, black stripes, automatic.

This will be my daily driver except for winter months. MSRP was $30205.00 and my GM supplier cost was $29360.00. GM employee price was cheaper last year before the new employee reduced pricing took affect this Jan. 2010

I have been reading this forum for over 8 months, gaining as much information about the Camaro as I can to date. After checking one of the other threads (for model builds) I have found that my Camaro will be the only one in Michigan (for the entire 2010 build) with this option package (no RS or sunroof packages for me.)

I knew I wanted a 5th gen. Camaro when I first started helping to manufacture the Body Side Outer (rear qtr. panel) a few years ago. I work for GM on the manufacturing side of the business. Much of what my team and I did, helped to get this great looking panel to the market.

I took delivery on April 7th.

A BIG THANK – YOU to all those who have posted so much great information for me to read and use to make my decisions for my Camaro.

oh, duh, u didnt get the RS package...which means they are 19s i think? lol sry i should have kept on reading

i hope this isn't another stupid question, but since you didn't get the RS package, why is your MSRP still above 30,000?
The SIM 2LT RS that I am looking at is MSRP 30,560 just a question...

Edit: Wait, it's prolly cuz of your inferno orange interior! Right?? haha i should just delete all my posts

Thanks for taking the time to read and post to this thread. And yes you answered your own questions.

No RS package = no 20" wheel package.

As for the cost. I have the IOM paint, IO interior, automatic and the black strips, all of which were extras.

Thanks again for looking.

Beautiful job and well done. I was great to meet you and see your car in person here at the dealership. I'm looking forward to any others changes you have coming. Hope we meet again in June at the Michigan FBody gathering.

Thanks to you and your co-workers for a great job on those sexy 1/4 panels.

Absolutely love them. Dumped the suitcases, dropping 32 lbs. on the back end. Picked up one of the mufflers today to move it in my garage and forgot how heavy one of these cans were.

The MRT's look great from behind and sound even better.

These accomplished everything I was looking for them to do for me.

I can leave for work at 4:30 am and drive out of the sub-division in stealth mode and you can't even tell I changed the exhaust. Once I get on it thou, it makes the sweetest sound and lets you know why you changed out the stock suitcases.

A few photos while at the Waterford Hills racetrack. May 22nd and 23rd. We got to go on the track during the lunch break and take some exciting parade laps. My son took some video in the rain on Saturday and photos on Sunday. It was a great weekend even thou the weather was not the best on Saturday it more than made up for it on Sunday. Even Becky from Rogers Chevrolet made it out to the event on Sunday. Here is a link to that weekend and more photos. http://www.camaro5.com/forums/showthread.php?t=82481

Awesome pics rtcat600man

The best estimate so far for installing my MRT Axle Back Exhaust is $150.00 here in West Palm Beach Florida. They wanted $190.00 and I told them it only should take 40 minutes. They said they have to go by the standard book which is two hours.

I know you told me you took your car to MRT to have them welded. Did you install them yourself? If so, did you just jack up one side, cut the exhause with a hack saw, install the Resonator then do the other side? What kind of saw did you use?

Blue LEDs

Just received the Blue LED kit you recommended http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...t_13050wt_1165. It's great! So far I installed the dome and trunk lights. They look awesome. Haven't done the foot wells or tail lights yet. Thanks for the suggestion.

If so, did you just jack up one side, cut the exhaust with a hack saw, install the Resonator then do the other side? What kind of saw did you use?
Thanks for the compliments. I have been having a great time doing all of my mods. Next up is painting my calipers. I will post pictures and add it to this thread when completed.

As for the MRT install, yes I did the install myself. I made some homemade ramps, see photo, cut the exhaust off with a sawz all (which I bought just for this job, good excuse to finally get one of these tools.)

The driver side was a snap and installed in 5 minutes. However, the passenger side was a different story. The problem is that the two sides are not identical. So it was a little more work to get this side on. Once completed I knew I wanted them welded in place anyway. That is why I ended up going to MRT and have it done so that I could meet their team and discuss these issues with them.

Thanks again for the compliments. Do not hesitate to contact me with any other concerns, questions or ideas.

MRT Exhaust

Hey rtcat600man, I just had my MRT Version 1.0 exhaust installed yesterday. Found a place that did for $65.00 which is reasonable IMO. What a difference! Sounds really great and looks better than the suitcases I took off. They are loud but they are what I expected. I like them so far.

I also got my windows tinted with 18% carbon film. Cuts way down on the heat and I don't even need sunglasses to drive.

I think I copied you on the doorsill plates. I love them!

But then some girl backed into my car in the parking lot at Wal-Mart later last night and killed my buzz. How the hell can you NOT SEE a YELLOW Camaro?!?!? Scratched the bumber really bad and dented the right rear quarter panel. She kept saying "Oh, you can just pop that out, it's nothing, it will cost $200.00 at the most". She said she just had her rear bumper replaced so she must do this all the time. I could have killed her. Waiting for Progressive claim rep to call . I don't know how they're going to fix the quarter since it's unibody and conntected to the roof. Bondo? I hope not. Bumper needs to be replaced. :upset:

Let me start off with the good stuff first. Glad to hear the MRT 1.0 meets your satisfaction. That is awesome. $65.00 is a decent price. I know I LOVE mine and I have the 2.0 Yep dropped off 25.5 lb suitcases to add 9.5 lb over night bags for a net loss of 32 lbs.

The tint looks great. I know I LOVE mine too. Changes the look of the Camaro to something even better.

Your right those sill plates are AWSOME. Those are the ones I have and you cannot beat the price.

Then comes the BAD news. How depressing. I think I would lose it. The just flat out blows. And your right how can you not see a YELLOW CAMARO. (she must be BLIND). You are correct the Body Side Outer is one piece. I work for GM and helped manufacture that BSO. My guess they will bump out what they can and try to bondo fill the rest? To say they would replace that whole panel is probably not going to happen unless they cut a section out and weld a new one back in. Make sure you talk to a GM dealer first and see what they will do. Bumper they can easily replace that piece.

Good Luck. Keep us posted on the outcome.

When I went to work this morning I saw this Camaro as I drove in, so I parked next to it for a moment to get an old school - new school photo. This one is truly orange where as my IOM sometimes photos more red than orange. (sorry about the quality it was with a cell phone).

This other one is a photo of my Camaro when I attended the Roger's Chevrolet Camaro show back in the beginning of May. I parked next to another old Camaro and took this new school - old school photo.
