Z28 Convertible

Hello everyone! It's my first post here. I've read that the Camaro convertible is coming out in 2011 and the Z28 in 2012, but I have yet to see anything about the release of a convertible Z28. Any word if one will be produced?

No idea. But I can't really think of a good reason why it couldn't be done.

I can. It will be like 4500 pounds by the time they reinforce it enough to handle all that extra horsepower.

Just my feelings

Well, if Chevy doesn't make one, then I guess one of the best options would be to bring an SS convertible to Lingenfelter for there 650 HP treatment.

It would be a shame if Chevy can't pull of a Z28 convertible since Ford seems to have had no problems with their GT500 convertible in the same HP range. Maybe that very fact will give them some incentive to actually do it?

I don't think it will be to hard to do some kind of Z28 convert. The engineering that can be done can make a car handle just about anything. I am waiting for the convert but if GM chooses to add big HP to it I would buy it!

Lets let GM announce the Z28 first. Then we'll worry about a convertible. Plus what makes you think they aren't testing one now as we speak.

It'll work just fine.

If a buyer wants a car to race regularly or competitively, they shouldn't be buying a vert. For the street and occasional racing, it's been done before and will be again. Buy an SS and power it up. It'll be fine.

Now the COST of a Z-28 vert might be up there a bit. lol

i hope they dont make the Z a vert. kinda defeats the purpose of having a "race ready" car. not to mention how everyone already complains how over weight the car is. lets hope no vert. unless the car goes on a diet and can remain around the same weight or less than the ss.

I don't think they will come together from GM.

Send out the convertible to get "fixed" from a performance shop if that's what you are after...

The Z28 has ment different things throughout the years but basically it means more hp and better handling. So who wouldn't want that, I know I would. All with the prestige of owning a Z28 and a full dealer warranty!!

Perfect

Do your research, there have been Z/28 convertibles in the past...so i don't see how your point is valid?

I don't think GM will make a Z28 convertible just from a liability standpoint.
After all, it was GM that would not put the dry sump LS3 engine in the Grand Sport convertible, even with the 6 speed, because they were afraid you might go racing without a roll bar like the coupe.

I had a '87 IROC with the 5.7L engine, and I think I am correct in saying that GM would not put the 5.7L engine in the convertible, and you could not get the wider, speed rated, tires.

The convertibles just have more body flex without the fixed roof to tie the car together.

TEXHAWK RIGHT ABOUT BODY FLEX. FORD DID HAVE A LOT OF PROBLEMS WITH HO rag top's. Sorry for all these capital letters. they still may have some issues and concern's.
