I bet that is a pretty accurate guess for base price. +/- 2K is my bet (I am betting on plus). I just don't see this car coming out less than the GT500 if it indeed is getting the LSA, and the necessary upgrades to drivetrain.

Question. If the base 2010 Camaro is $20k less than the 3.6L CTS, why do most people expect the Z28 to start only $10k less than the CTS-V? I was thinking $42k for an un-optioned Z28 would be right on.

Or it's just a case of my hopes undershooting reality again.

Sure. It's based on pure speculation.

The base Camaro LS is significantly less luxurious than a base CTS. Those premium materials and features in the CTS cost money.

Engines aren't the only things that cost money when building cars.

Well, yeah, but is everyone expecting a luxury interior in the Z28? I can see some things made standard like leather seats maybe, but... $10k worth of interior upgrades? I'm pretty sure they're not going with aluminum, carbon fiber, other overhauls to save weight or anything. Near as I can tell it's "because that's what the GT500 costs".

I would suspect a few interior enhancements over the current SS, but nothing like the CTS.
