It will be interesting to hear how the tear down and inspection of your transmission turns out. Mine has had problems going into 2nd from day 1.

wow, rolnslo, good resurrection. Completely forgot about this thread, funny how it came back and bit me in the ass one year later LOL
AS for me, it was the clutch pressure plate coming loose. As for the 2nd and thirg gear synchros, theyre a piss off. The other day, i was driving, put the car in third, had the clutch still pressed all the way down, and somehow, it grinded. Made no sense to me as i had my clutch pressed all the way down.... Keep us posted rolnslo!

My biggest fear with them tearing down my transmission is that they don't get it back together quite right. I could probably live with the 2nd gear issue but I'm gonna be ticked if they screw up the other 5 gears or the clutch. We shall see... I'm happy as hell with my Camaro too, just wish these little things didn't pop up. I knew the chances I took in buying a first model year car, especially by going with the manual transmission since that option itself was likely to be a low percentage of the overall sales for the V6. That's why I picked up the 72 month/100k mile GMPP Major Guard service contract in March. Just had a feeling that I might be needing it once the 3yr/36k bumper to bumper warranty ran out. Hoping I don't though...

Well, I've got my Camaro back now. They said 2nd gear was almost completely shot. Unfortunately, once they tore apart the transmission, they couldn't get replacement parts for the damaged pieces. The GM regional rep said they might be able to pull the parts from the assembly line but that might take up to 30 days to get the parts. So instead, GM just authorized replacing my entire transmission with a new one that was available locally. Hopefully this one already has the newer designed parts for 2nd gear. Only time will tell....at least I'm back on the road now.

Heh guys,
I've only got about 400 miles on my 2010 Camaro LS, and this is what's happening on the 1-2 shift: 1-2 @ 5000 rpm = smooth 1-2 @ 6000 rpm = notchy 1-2 @ 7000 rpm = crunches Is this a common issue with v6 trannies? Will it resolve itself over time or are my 2nd gear synchros going bad already? (btw, I've driven sticks in high perf cars for over 30 years) |

What were you feeling that made you think something was wrong? Mine seems okay, and when I did my fluid change, things were looking fine. I've added the Hurst Shifter, and that makes things a little notchier, but it seems to get smoother the more it is driven. 3000 miles so far and my VIN is 50019 which is a quite a few cars later than yours.

I don't know about anyone else, but I have stalled this car more than any other stick car I have owned or driven in the past 20 years or so. Happens to me most frequently going from reverse to first or when taking off with the a/c on. I have over 9000 miles on the car and the clutch pedal engagement point is still a little iffy from one day to the next. I wanted to see if anyone else experienced this.
