Anyone have a ram air hood that dumps into your air raid?

I am considering a new hood with functional scoop. It is designed to dump air right on the air raid. I'm not sure how the car would handle this but it seems like a great Idea to dump air in the airbox.

Anyone have any XP with this issue?

This is the thread with the hood I am considering.

No, the water is channeled to the area by the front latch. I have an ADM Race CAI but I've opened it up and put rubber sealers around it to get the air from my RK Sport air induction hood. I think it works ok, but have no numbers to prove anything...

ACS have functional sccops that direct the cold air into your cold air box, with water drain holes. They look great!!

We design our hoods following OE standards; actually our RTM process has been specifically developed for hoods. One of the spec's being water management.

This is our Nickey Chicago Inner



Many aspect to consider when buying a hood,

Safety, Fit and finish, Is it prepped, what material is it made of .. ... of course styling being customer's first interest.. hood replacement design is not as simple as it may seem.

Enjoy the purchase, choosing is the funnest part ! So many cool options out there.

Dragom here in Indy has that functional hood and he loves it! Now he just got the Airaid a few weeks ago and just got his V2 tube a week or so ago but when I spoke to him at our Meet & Greet this past July 10th, he said he liked the performance. You would have to get with him on it though. I do know he said he could tell the difference between the V1 tube and the V2 tube but I can't say what the hood is doing for him.

I say hit him up in a PM and get his thoughts. I took this pic of his Rally Yellow at our meet last weekend. I think he got his hood from PMD out of Coatsville, IN

I doubt it. with the indentation for the scoop, the lines on the inside wouldn't match up.

Would these hoods still be effective with another CAI besides the AIRAID? I know some intakes draw from the same location as the stock snorkel, and then the Injen draws from all the way down by the wheel- would one of these still get any more airflow down there?

With Dragom's hood, he has the Airaid and the way its set up, he gets a fresh/cold air dump from the top. The way the hood is made, air coming in from the scoop flows right to the Airaid box so the filter is getting that air from the top and he's getting the ram air from the tube at the bottom. His only issue is that the hood doesn't come with the inner liner as stock so this prevented him from getting the seal the Airaid design uses with that setup. I suggested he get some foam pipe insulation which he did and this closed off the inside of the box once the aftermarket hood is closed. He says he loves it!

Couldn't we just use the foam liner from the stock hood and simply cut out the hole where the fresh air comes in?

I had a 98 TA I Ram Aired with a Sun Coast Creations hood, and a 2002 WS-6 RAM Air....

Why would you want to channel the air to a side mounted intake? Does that not defeat the purpose of the Ram Air? It creates a restriction of air flow..... I see even the SC hood for the 5th gen is side discharge.

There is no water issue on the 4th gen Ram-Air, Both my Raptor hood and the OEM GM W-S6 hoods has baffles to keep water out.

Even if it won't be a complete ram air system, the hood does an excellent job of extracting heat from the engine compartment, and supplies ample amounts of cold air to the intake correct? The air coming through that hood should be much colder than the air you would get from the Injen IMO, and also has the benefit of a short ram air intake with the advantage of a true cold air intake.

I find no fault with that notion at all.... However when you compare a "possible 6-10 hp gain with the price tag of around 2100 bucks.... See where I am going with this?

Where I got 2100
Hood 900-1000 Plus 100 Taxes, plus 100 or so for shipping + 300-400 to have it painted (they arrive in gelcoat and need to be sanded and painted and fit), CAI 400 +tax...

Your looking at $200 + per 1 hp

I completed understand your view point on that, and I agree but I am also doing this for the aesthetic aspect of it as well. You have to admit its a pretty damn good looking Hood.

What part of Louisiana? Abbeville originally for me...

I am sure I will get some flack.. I have always preferred the TA look... This was my 98 TA with a SCC Ram Air hood. That hood made that car look like a beast...

The SCC hood looks a little softer in the angles... Has more roll to it, which I like.
