I would go for the V8 but I would still get the convertible!

I know you were saying you only wanted to hear from people who plan to get the Convertible, but that means you're only going to hear from people who answer that you should get the convertible...

I am planning on getting a V8 Coupe, but I did consider getting the convertible for a while.

To answer your question, without going into all the aspects of my decision: I don't think I would have the top down enough to be worth sacrificing that much power.

The question was seeing if other people getting the convertible would sacrifice it or not. I plan on getting a vert with the v8 no matter what, I just wanted opinions from other people if they had to choose one.
