I kinda hear what you're saying, but don't you think that 100% of V8 owners will put the throttle to the floor at some point or other, be it on a highway entrance ramp or on a race track?

I like to go to the track once per year for HPDE events, so I'll definitely be using all the horsepower there. But most of the time when entering the highway, unless traffic is preventing it, I will have the throttle to the floor until I'm up to speed. It's one of the few times you can floor it legally, and it's fun.

Whenever a lesson just can go un-taught.

At the start of the 2nd year of the C5 Z06, we were on Woodward Avenue in a fine silver example when 3 guys in a Ford Probe pull up next to us at a stop light. He then starts reving his engine. So I roll down the window, laughing mind you, and asked if he was serious. I politely tell him that I have a 405 HP small block Chevy under the hood.

His repy........."I've got nitrous man, I've got nitrous"

That's when you will need 426 HP, and you probably won't be able to help yourself.

True to a point, but feel that when it comes to braggin' rights it's either "put up or shut up". The power is there if ya need it, but doesn't mean you have to use it. Your comment is like sayin' that if ya have a pink car and you're a girl, then you're more woman than others who don't, but can tell you I know several women that drive real american muscle that have bigger balls than anyone on this site, one of them has a 1000+ HP '09 Z06 (twin-turbo) and it doesn't make her a bigger man, just means she had more money to invest in the hobby she loves, "HORSEPOWER" !!!!. "/

truthfully guys, we all know we don't NEED 426hp. . . the 304 the V6 is putting out would be good enough if not better than anything you would need for a daily driver. . .

we all WANT 426hp. . huge difference.

Do I need 426 HP NO, will I use it YES. Been doing it for 34 years with 300 to 500 HP, no crashs so far. Just got to use good judgement.

At times when; nobody is around when I pull out from my driveway.
At times when; I go down or up the on ramps
At times when; I go to the drag strip to race my Sons Mustang
At times when; everything is right at a traffic light
At times when; I just feel like it
At times when; other needs arise

426HP? That's how much more flywheel horsepower a Camaro SS will have to add to match what I have under the hood of my 3 model-year old GT500.

Im going to use my 426 HP whenever TaguRit and PoPoCamaro and the other confirmed PoPo are definitley not around ha ha ha ha. Seriously though, I have to keep my azz under control at all times because just like my previous Corvettes I had this Camaro will be fast enough to get me in trouble if I let it. I am a speed junkie at heart and nothing makes me happier than puching the gas pedal on a tourqey muscle car from stop light to stop light and this car we are all getting is really made for just that! When I was younger I like to rip into work on my Honda CBR 1000 and hit 150 mph when the road allowed it just to get my "speed" rush before working all day, now that I am older I ride a HD that wont go 150 mph so I wont feel the urge to do that sheet anymore but even at this age I still love that rush and occassionally miss it. I would like to perhaps take my baby to the track and let her howl after its well broken in, I have never done that in my personal cars and have always wanted to. Maybe the Camaro will be my excuse to make that happen!

426hp will definitely send my badassometer reading through the roof, but I really just want to have some good old fashioned fun, and this car will deliver. Regardless of when or why you use the hp, hard acceleration is such as rush!

Well, that's probably because when the cars were first produced, dealers were charging (and many people were paying) dealer markups of 5, 10,15 and even $20K+ over MSRP.

Metered freeway on-ramps with two lanes merging into one immediately after the light. I can beat most drivers with a quick reaction time, but 426 hp should help with the alert drivers with halfway decent cars.

There's also some nasty hills in the LA area that can be a pain if someone cuts you off and kills your momentum.
