I have the 1st-2nd shift problem. I took to the dealer, they said shift slower. I called customer service, they told me to shift slower. I called Tremec they said that was GM blowing smoke. I sent a letter. They ordered my parts this week. They have a redesigned synchro, also replacing the blocker ring. Not easy to get them to do it, but you have to start with your dealer and keep moving up the chain until you get high enough for them to fix the problem.

IMHO, when the dealership you take your vehicle to doesn't acknowledge the issue with your transmission, it's best to call GM directly and make a formal complaint. I can tell you this works MUCH better than arguing with the manager or advisor. GM will get the regional rep involved and his/her words work wonders.

Sometimes maby! It depends on how much the rep is in bed with the dealer, and who you get at gm, in my experience with repairs and difficult dealerships, if its an outsourced employee the chances are slim to none getting them to really care.

Mine has been doing it alot when at the dragstrip. Almost everytime I run. I will probably try to co tact the dealer and get this snowball rolling. I hope they take care of me or this car will be of no use to me.

upate on my trans : the local dealership i took car in oct after dissmantleing entire trans told me it was shifter and not the trans, they refused to re assemble trans unless i paid for it, i called gm 1000x and argued with them, they told me im on my own and the dealer flagged car in computer so no warranty anymore. they had car for 8 weeks or so, charged me 600 for storage, gave me all the pieces in a box and it cost me 175 for a tow and then 500 to ship car across the state to have trans put back together. the found 2 bad gears and syncros ground over. i bought car used w/ 3100 miles from a dealer that way.... nobody wanted to cover anything after i spent 5500 just for rockland to put everything back together and new clutch ect... all and all im almost 7500 out of pocket and wont get car till next week, i think its bs for gm to screw over customers like this, im submitting all the recipts to my lawyer and we will see.....the kicker is it was in the dealer for other warranty issues that they didnt even bother doing, i simply told them about the grinding, they removed trans on there own, never gave permission to and also....what is the first thing you do to pull trans out of this car???? 1st thing is the shifter, so if you saw an aftermarket shifter that you woulnt warranty ( if it was the prob which it wasnt) doesnt that warrent a phone call explaining that it may not be covered befor you dissassemble the whole thing??????????? this is how i got car back plus a shit ton of dings/dents and scratches. all the gears and everything thrown in a bin and everything else tossed inside the car..... someone please tell me how to post a pic and ill show ya

This is just bull. One should NOT accept that as an answer. Keep pestering the hell out of your dealer or call chevy and sick the district manager of that area on them.

GM just has a faulty synchronizer setup for 1st to 2nd and they just haven't fixed it, so they give us this bull**** answer in a service bulletin.

THAT IS CRAZY. If they did that to my car, I'd probably go to jail from baseball batting their whole lot of cars. UNBELIEVABLE they could do that to you.

My 2010 is in the shop for the exact same problem.
been in 2 weeks and they tell me they need to order SPECIAL TOOLS to remove the trans!!! WTF!!!

We need to find a way to get GM to make this a TSB or a RECALL.
There are numerous people here having the same issues.

forgot to add 2600 miles on the clock.

Mine does it at slow speeds. It's always the 1-2 shift. Thought it was me at first.

That transmission take apart sounds like a real nightmare. It is possible changing the shifter could allow them to void the warranty. They can blame the situation on the shifter and get away with not repairing your transmission.

What I might do is put my stock shifter handle on before I take it in the dealer. The Barton lets you have either.

Dealerships or shops can not perform paying work with out written permission from the customers ok, if they do then by law the customer is not responsible for any money owed! Take your receipts to your lawyer and start a suit to get your money back, dealerships should know better than that!

my issue with that is i bought the car from a chevy dealership, it had most of the work except gears and suspention already done.....thats how i bought it i had a problem and now everyone said im on my own, plus like i said #1 its a divored shifter (cable driven) so how can i have a problem with only 2 gears grinding and not all of them, #2 i stated to them at the dealer to check into the grinding noise, they ripped trans out of the car and dissasmbled...never even calling me to tell me what they were doing. and one of the first things you need to do is disconnect the shifter. so why didnt i get a call at that point to tell me , you have an aftermarket shifter and if this is shifter related you will not be covered... and # 3 the shop that is fixing it immediatly found bad syncro and gears when they went through the bin of internal trans parts the dealer left me with. how can you be allowed to take my car apart, trans, clutch, exhuaust subframe connectors and dismantle entire trans stuff all the parts into my interior, scratch and dent my car charge me storage and tell me to f#$k off.....it aint right..not to mention when the trans was hanging i now have a radiator leak, prob pulled on the hoses but still. its bs... after 3 diffrent gm reps and all the bs run around i was left to take the pieces and go find someone to put all back together

By law don't they have to prove that your bolt on's caused the gear grind? They would need 100% proof of it to void a warranty claim I thought. Wouldn't the Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act apply here? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Magnuson-Moss_Warranty_Act
