Personally....and I know this isn't what everyone wants to hear....you can listen to your music in your car for the meantime using alternate methods. I know this is an issue that needs to be addressed (as I'm sure it has been many, many times), but see if you can use a thumb drive for the time being. It's an inexpensive fix.

For those who can't move the music to a USB drive, there is always a way...

You might look into getting Tunebite. It's a program that legally strips the DRM off any files. It's like $20, but you're already paying $15/month and it lets you keep your music forever. Sound quality is excellent.

I've ordered a couple of the latest modules to install in my vehicle as a test and I will tell you which part number for which HW/SW version.

I ordered a PDIM module kit (20940641) to add to my 2010 1SS from Allen @ Tonkin Chevrolet. This was after the inventory stock was to have been cleared of the original PDIMs (bad ones).

This PDIM kit contained the "somewhat older" part number of 20927509 (for 2010 Camaros as noted in other threads) but I was assured that it was a "newer" PDIM module based on the numerous phone calls that Allen made to verify with his various GM part supply people he works with regularly.

I installed the PDIM kit and on 2/7/11 I had it activated. I have a PDIM with DA/DX. Since I don't have "HW ID" of "C..." it appears I do have an updated PDIM module.

I tested it with my iPhone 3G (iOS 3.1.2 - I'm not running iOS 4.x on my 3G - too many problems on a 3G) and it seems to play music just fine without re-indexing at each startup and it picks up right where it left off. I was going to test audio streaming via bluetooth, but I've since found out my iPhone 3G does not support A2DP bluetooth streaming so I can't test that right now.

So I have the a IPOD touch 4g and it has been working good. But just last night I pluged it in and it would not play any music. Nor allow me to change playlists. Sounds like I too will have to wait until a TSB comes out. I just hadd the PDIM installed in my 1SS last year. I can't beleive I bought a peice of junk

So in order to update the PDIM I have to order a new part/module, or just have the dealer download the newest version? Which from what I've read here is DA/DX?

New hardware is in order and there may be new software needed. I just got the two modules in today so I will check them out in the next couple of days and provide the feedback.

Ok, here is what you've been wanting to know and it sorts everything out. I apologize that it has taken me a few days, but have been dealing with kidney stone issues, lol.

Ok to the good stuff.

My build date was 5/29/2009 so I had part number 20840958 installed. The hardware version is CB/CC.

I have seen references to part number 20927509. This hardware version is DA/DX

I have also seen a new part number 20985421 in the catalog. This is version DB/DB.

This is not anything I've picked up off the internet. All 3 modules, versions and pictures were done by me today with my own personal vehicle.

If you don't have the PDIM and you buy the latest PDIM kit, 20940641, it will come with part number 20927509 (DA/DX). I know this because I just got a 20940641 kit on Friday and opened it and the part number on the module is 20940641.

It does appear to me that GM will be adding the new number, 20985421 to that kit, but it has not been done yet.

There is all of the good news.

The bad news is, if you have a 2010, the latest part number in any catalogs, with GM or reference material is 20927509 (DA/DX). If you get it done under warranty for a 2010 you will only be allowed to get 20927509 or the claim will bounce.

If you have a 2011 and you don't have part number 20985421, then you can get it and warranty will pay for it.

So the current PDIM add-on kit does not have the new part number in it as of this moment. I do believe, however, that it will shortly.

Personally, with the 2010's, I don't know why GM just doesn't change all of the part numbers over to the latest one, 20985421. The 2011 module works in the 2010 as that is what I did today. Any other questions, just ask. I'll answer if I know the answer!

Mine

Works perfectly and has done so for a month now. NO ISSUES.

I also don't know why GM doesn't just change out the part number all together. I think they are going to do nothing but have more and more complaints and unhappy customers when they go int time and time again to get it fixed only to be told, "sorry...you are stuck with a SH!T PDIM." I'm sorry...but no one and I mean NO ONE should have to put up with that. If you buy something, you expect it to work...not work half assed and then have to live with it.

I know my dealer really well.

They didn't want to warranty my PDIM saying it wasn't for my car. It was the wrong part number. I had to explain over and over and finally my guy, since he is a genuinely nice guy, caved and said he'd get it. Guess what....FIXED.

NO ONE and I mean NO ONE should have to beg ANYONE to get their vehicle and parts fixed PROPERLY under WARRANTY.

Sorry for my rant.

But it really tans my hide when GM is trying to rise up to this reputation of having the least amount of issues with their cars.

I mean...everyone with a Camaro has most likely experienced a problem with one of the most commonly used parts of the car.....the RADIO. What do we do when we drive? We listen to the radio. Whether it be a cd, XM, FM/AM, a USB stick, an Ipod, a Zune, etc...people listen to music.

If you have a broken music player, it ticks you off.

If you have a broken music player which dealerships tell you can't be fixed, what does that do for the reputation of Chevy?

"OH, I TOLD YA SO! Chevy is still building cars that don't work!"
That's not me....

That's the impression that thousands of Camaro buyers are getting right now....not to mention the people that are passengers IN the cars when they have those problems.

I know that GM is working on this TSB issue...but in the meantime, more and more people (who also don't know about what is going on) are trying to get their cars fixed. I just think it shows a bad angle of GM and things need to speed up.

I mean, hey...I got mine fixed after several trips to the dealer. I finally found this thread, took in the laptop, showed them what was going on, and got mine replaced and updated to what it needed to be.

THANK YOU TO ANCIRA WINTON FOR FIXING MY PROBLEM!!!

Mine is fixed now, but because I have a 2010 year model, I had to buy PN 20985421 and install it myself.

Great customer service, huh?

Papa, just plug in your USB and then push in the menu button on the right and hold it. It'll tell you which version you have....not which part number, but which version.

You will either have the DA-DX or the DB-DB. If you don't have the DB-DB you will need a new module.

I think it will largely depend on when the car was built. Mine was built at the beginning of 2011 production (7/20) and I had the CE/CC or whichever it was, but it was the old numbers.
