Cool story. And yeah they come in handy sometimes An added bonus is my son researches all these DIY's and other instructions that will help me out, and he always tells me we need to do the mods ourselves because this is what he wants to do the rest of his life, work on cars. It's good bonding when we both love what we are doing.

My son didn't like it at all. But I didn't when I was his age either, and look at me now.

So what happened to the $500, low-budget grudge match ?

You guys are true Americans. No holds barred. Do as much as you can in the time allotted...and then kick ass !!

Anyone wanna buy some JATO rockets ??

JATO for the win!!!

This was my ride when doing fieldwork in Antarctica. We had just had a week-long snow storm so the snow on the glacier was soft. So, they attached 8 JATO bottles to the plane (that's what they're working on in that photo). They made us all sit in the tail of the plane to get some weight off the nose ski for take off. When they fired the JATO it was some fun ride! We did break the hydraulics in the nose ski and they had to fly the plane to New Zealand the next day for repairs.
