If you're adding the PDIM to your vehicle you will need programming. If you're upgrading your module, no programming is needed.

Will the pdim with an iPhone allow me to make calls through the stereo? Or do I need Bluetooth for that?

The Blueetooth on this is to only stream the music from your phone to the radio. The OnStar Bluetooth module is for the wireless calls.

What specifically is fixed with this PDIM. I added the PDIM to my 2010 1SS. I experience crackling when I browse other songs, while playing a song. I also get a pop up on the iPhone 4 saying that the accessory isn't supported, even though it seems to work.

Will these issues be fixed?

The main issue was with the use of memory sticks and them not being fully read but I have heard of this poping sound and I believe this is fixed as well

Unfortunatly the hands free bluetooth goes through the VIU which is something we are not able to supply

Better question is ->Are all the dis-assembly steps in the DIY thread required or can you access just the PDIM module in an easier way if you're just swapping it out and not ADDING everything? Patiently awaiting a response.... well?... WELL ?...WELL ?... lol

Guessing ~15-20 minutes. It was pretty quick. Hardest part was trying to remove the console cover without getting ugly pry marks on the hinge frame. Next hardest part was depressing the proprietary GM mini usb connector lock tab. Ended up using a small screwdriver to press the stupid tab down.

I winged it. Helm service manual interior section didn't help or I didn't see details.

1) remove gauge cluster, disconnect single connector and place on the side.
2) remove manual shifter mount(4 screws) mount can tilted to remove console
3) remove single screw next to manual shifter base
4) pull off sides - pressed in and easy to remove (left and right)
5) remove single screw from each side on front console where dash meet
6) remove (2) screws from each side at rear console cover and remove
7) remove (3) scews; left, center, right on the top back of console
8) remove power, usb, and 1/8" analog in sockets from storage area
9) remove console storage lid
10) pull console top portion off to reveal PDIM (between storage and cup holder)
11) press tabs and remove PDIM module and cable
12) install PDIM and re-assemble in reverse order.
13) test before full re-assembly just in case unit DOA.

Nice information you gave there. What console cover are you referring to? I don't recall this when I changed my console out.

Time's about right- 20 min or less 1st screw out to last screw back in...

Success.

Still pisses me off that the first thing to come up on my iPhone (3GS) is:
.
"This Accessory is Not Optimized for this iPhone...yada, yada, yada..." WTF?
.
The iPod/iPhone is probably the most used "accessory" with this car's setup from what I see- God forbid Apple and GM got their shit collectively together...But, hey, if everything now works (ALL the time and not when it wants to) and all I have to do is ignore that message, I'm good with it.

The compartment storage lid cover. It impedes the removal of the top console shell at the rear. Once off, the console shell can be easily lifted from the rear, then back slightly for removal. I'm trying not to scratch where the console and dash meets.

I have an iPod Classic and it works great. Hopefully, the intermittent static went away. I haven't tried my iPhone 4, yet.
