What would happen if I put 110 octane racing fuel in the tank?

Just curious..

No I am not tuned for it.. Just a random question I had. I really like the smell of burnt racing gas.

You'd be wasting an extra $2-3/gallon. Make it worth your while and toss a blower or turbo on your car and then do it.

My guess is that the stock tune wouldn't be able to compensate for that, but further research would be needed.

I put it in my bike at a 1 to 4.8 gallon ratio and it smells AWESOME! No need to fill it all the way.

Its leaded therefore will kill your cats and possibly play havoc with the other emissions controls (though it will still run). The stock tune likely won't gain much benefit from it, and eventually it will foul your plugs.

I don't got cats, I'm allergic to them....I have a really big dog though...

And OP, I can promise you will not have to worry about detonation at least for the term of time that tank of race fuel is in there....

WAY too many additives in avgas. It plays havoc on your injectors. Will clog them up.

To the OP: More octane is worthless unless you're tuned for it. In many cases, it's harmful. Fouled plugs and clogging the cats is just the tip of it.

Racers have used avgas for years, other than lead that will damage the cats and O2 sensors, I'm not aware of additives in avgas that will harm FI. Some aircraft also have fuel injection.
Avgas has additives that prevents freezing and vapor lock.
Avgas is not legal for street use though, no road taxes on it.
