Are you sure KBB is Kelly Blue Book? Could be KBB = Kelly Black Book which dealers use when they are taking in a trade.

Most of the stuff on the 45th I like but some I don't. Either steering wheel is fine by me. I think the regular rims are better, and the special white 45th interior doesn't look as nice as the gray does, IMO.

But the stripes are cool and the carbon flash metallic is awesome. You can't order it with the ground effects package though, hopefully they change that.

If it's what you want, I say go for it. You spend that much $$ on a car it should be exactly what you want.

I guess it all depends on what you think your payments being about the same means. In my experience when talking to salesmen, they think that if I have a loan for 48 months with a $409 payment then a 60 month loan with payments of 499 is "about the same." Hey they both start with 4 right? Both around $400, yeah right, not to mention the extra year.

I hope this is not the case and you truely can get it for about the same price but seem difficult to believe you could get a new 2SS/RS w/ sunroof and whatever else you have for a similar payment unless you throw in more cash down.

If it's what you want and they really give you that much for trade-in on your 2011 - get it while you can. Good Luck...

I saw an ad yesterday for the local chevy dealer, he was advertizing New 2011 LS Camaros for 23995, I looked down and he had a 2010 USED LS listed for 21995. so I guess they are holding their value pretty well...

Jeez, it's just a steering wheel. Everyone get over it already. It's not as if they gave it the Cruze engine ...

Especially if you get an SS, you won't notice the steering wheel after you press the gas pedal.

It's definitely Kelly Blue Book. I've also known some to use Black Book and NADA. It's just their preference, I guess. My mom has owned a Used Car Dealership for several years and she's always used NADA.

Just checked online on Black Book and they don't have any info on vehicles newer than 2010 and less than 5k miles.

My contact said he uses auction values to figure out what to give on trade in which is probably a little lower than KBB.

I say go for it... same thing I did when the Pace Car came out...

So, what would you do?

I also think the 45th is pretty neat (see signature) so I can't blame you there! And if all your numbers hold steady through the deal, then I think there's absolutely nothing wrong with trading in.

Not too much of a downside, I'd say.

The payments will be pretty close with the same loan length/rate (although I'm hoping for a better rate this time 'round). Here are the numbers:

2011

MSRP w/ Options - $38,xxx
w/ GM Military + GM Owner Loyalty - $36,400
$12k Down - $24,400 Financed over 72 mo. @ 6.59%
$412/mo.
$22,600 Current Balance

2012

MSRP w/ Options - $38,300
w/ GM Preferred (not sure how close to GM Military this is) - $36,398
Trade-in - $34k-$35k

$22,600+$1,398/$2,398= $23,998 to $24,998 Financed

So if I'm able to get around $34.5k for my 2011, I'll be financing almost the same amount as I originally did. Under the same term/rate my payments will stay about the same, but I'll end up paying about 6 more payments after my original loan end date. If they honor GM Owner Loyalty, that's another $1k off, and if my interest rate lowers my payments might actually DROP a little. But that's just wishful thinking. As long as my payment doesn't shoot over $450/mo, it'll be more than worth it.

BTW, I also think it's crazy that you are actually getting more for less with the 45th AE compared to other 2012 2SS/RS models with normal Rally Stripes and Interior Trim Package.

The 45th AE package is $1,375.

The RS Package is $1,350 Rally Stripes are $470, and the Interior Trim Package is $500.

That's why with the rise of the base price on the 2012s, the 45th AE with Rear Vision Package is right around the same MSRP as my 2011. GM really wants a ton of these on the street!

According to KBB my car as configured with 3700 miles is worth this:

Trade-In
  • Excellent $46,725
  • Good $44,525
  • Fair $40,425
I wonder how much I could actually get. Not that I want to sell it but it's more of a curiosity thing. I know that I couldn't get any dealer in my neck of the woods to give me $44,525 for my car.

If you can get the deal as you are describing it then you would be foolish not to go with it. I still love those new wheels.
