Going to the track tonight

Im headed to the track tonight in search of better ET then my first time out [13.7.7] with the ss. Should be in the low 70s air temp so it should be better night. This is a list of thing im going to do to get the better ET before i do any mods to the car. If there is anything im missing let me know. GOAL 13.2 or better

Fuse pull
1/4 tank of fuel 93 sunoco w/ 2 gallons of 106 race fuel
engine cover off
all traction control off
leave in drive
up the front tire air pressure- lower rear 25psi or so[ p/zeros ]
all excess weight out of car
disconnect front swaybar end links
practice launch RPM [ automatic]

I don't like the 106 octane. You don't need it unless you've got a tune for that much octane. You might go slower ....

Other than that, power-brake it over 1200 rpm, stand on the gas, and hold on. Should get 2.05 short and better than 13.40s.

Good luck.

I am going Sunday, going to put 3 gals of 100 octain and half tank of 93 and do a fuse pull overnight! Last time I went I think my car was pulling timing, I would not be afraid to try things! These things are pretty fuel sensitive, you just might go faster, but maybe only put 1 gal if your only running a quarter tank, 106 is strong stuff! Good luck, the worst that can happen is you don't run any faster, big deal at lest you tried and that's how you make things happen

I would leave the front sway bar alone. No need to go that far. I also agree that the 106 octane fuel would probably be a waste since your car isn't tuned for that. The fuse pull could make a huge difference if you haven't already done it.
BTW, do you know the elevation of the track where you'll be racing?

Knowing how bad gas is now... I still think it would a good idea to put a little rocket fuel in to make sure the gas is good! Why do you think so many guys need to do fuse pulls, 93 octain can be 90 by the time you get it if its been sitting!

Race gas also wreaks havoc on the plugs.

I just got back. I lost ambition so i didnt loosen the front swaybar, or go get the race gas. All the work did pay off thow, she ran alot better and i think i can get her do a better 60ft time with higher rpm launch. [ i left at just over 1000rpm]
60 ft-2.073
1/4 13.465
mph-105.2
Ill be racing again for Chevy weekend Oct 1-2 in stock form, then ill start doing the mods, just not sure where im going to start with it.
Thanks for all the help...............

L99 A6 I'm guessing by the 1000 rpm launch and a 2.0 sec 60'?

Edit - I just saw the "automatic" comment from the original post.

Definitely a solid run.

As mentioned, I wouldn't mess with the 106 octane or removal of the sway bar (just extra work to do). I wouldn't put high octane in the car unless its tuned for it, and the sway bar isn't going to make a noticeably difference. Just keep doing what your doing. A 2.0 is a solid 60' time for a stock L99.

There you go... And then leave it alone for the fall and you should click off some 13.2's in some low DA air. Did the car just hook? Also TCS off?

Where is the track you guys in NE go to, Epping? I grew up in Brookline and Quincy, how far is the track from there?

i was happy the # so i think ill leave the bar and race gas alone for now. with the 1000rpm launch she just hooked and left hard, no wheel spin that i could feel. I didnt have enough time to try a higher launch rpm, but i will next time. She defenitally felt like it would take a higher rpm, so ill creep up on it till i loose 60ft times.

Just make sure you get a good tune if you do. It appears that bad tunes with SCT tuning tool screwed up my system and now with headers, intake and exhaust, I ran 13.3 @ 107 that same night, same track. My tires also have 17000 hard miles on them. My car feels like a bullet down bottom though.

Yeah it was a lot cooler today in Chicago, I'm sure the DA was pretty good. Congrats on the 12.6@112 (I think you posted that on 'Tech...)
