I don't know, the PS2s are optional on the Z06 & ZR1. It would be reasonable to assume that they'd be optional on the ZL1 as well.

580hp.......SCHWING!!!!!
The coolness of the CUP tires though are offset by the cost of early replcement due to EXTREMELY low tread life......maybe they'll be optional.

The only real concern I have is the weight......4,200lbs seems bit high to me considering that GM was trying to offset some of the necessary weight gain due to the blower & upgraded/stronger suspension components by saving weight were possible (lighter tires & wheels come to mind). I'm, hoping that 4,200lbs number was pulled out of thin air by Jloplink. I was hoping they would be able to keep it more around 4,000lbs.....I'm sure it's only a matter of time before we get the "real" weight from GM.

Overall though....

Now I just have to be impatient over cost, options & colors!

According to the article though, the manual will have launch control and the auto will not. That "should" even things out a little. Don't you think?

4200 lbs is a bit too clean for me. Not 4187 or 4216 ... just 4200 even. Plus, Motor Trend said nothing about the weight.

The gold bowties really seem out of place on these cars. Look at them in the picture on this silver ZL1...looks out of place. Color keyed would be better, or just chrome or brushed silver or something neutral.

That is the SSX Track Car concept by GM and Pratt & Miller Racing for the 2010 SEMA show. Either that, or and excellent clone.

I just don't see why they didnt push the HP higher cause mine has quite a bit more and prolly have less into it than what the ZL1 is gonna sell for. they really needed to make the hp more IMO.

The car looks great and all but for $50k+ they could have really made it with more hp and tq

Can you run your engine for a week and a half (straight) at wide open throttle without failure? Because the LSA can. Does your engine have a 5 yr, 100k mile power train warranty? The LSA has one. Does your engine meet factory emissions standards in every state? The LSA does.

GM has far more to think about than just adding more power.

Just curious, how in the heck do they do that without running out of fuel? They must have some external fuel feed or something yeah?

Nor does it have magnetic suspension w/ what? Five settings? Has his tranny, diff, driveshaft been upgraded? We can go on and on...

I guess if you feel better that you have more HP and spent less, more power to you. But you really need to be honest w/ yourself on exactly how much you really spent to get that HP and what else you've sacrificed to get there. Warranty, reliability, etc.

Back on topic. This is some great news and numbers.

I was told by one of the moderators on here that the LSA does not have AFM.

Of course, we need verification from GM.

Can anyone actually confirm that there will not be an AFM applied to the LSA?

Why would GM apply AFM to the ZL1 when they haven't done it or even considered it on the CTS-V?
