This time is close to the times the zr1 and z06 did without the cup tires...cant imagine what it would do with those tires on it. Closer to the 7.20 mark? It made up over 20 seconds for the other cars...Maybe they will come as an option and call it the Nurburgring edition like Lexus did! Big Props to GM

Total Agree. We are actually getting into the point where potential exceeds ability? Could be Old Farts Disease, but it sure wouldn't take much if a deer ran out in front of you testing the curves on a backroad. There were times in days past when those thoughts didn't cross my mind. Today they do. Have that blessed T-Shirt! LOL

I'm starting to believe this car looks like too much car for me to own. I think I'll stick with my SS. 426hp is more than enough for the street.

FYI, not to be a homer but I've noticed on a LOT of a auto sites that there hasn't been much Ford hater chatter on this car.... not much you really could say and now the video speaks for itself.

And *crickets* at Dodge.... Viper doesn't count. They need to stick that viper engine into the Challenger and make it a production car and not just a sema car.

LSA vs LS9 sound

Awesome video.

Curious as to why the LSA in the Camaro sounds so different than the LS9 in the Corvette?

Should it matter? You either want this car or your don't.

What I want or don't want is irrelevant, the GT500 is this car's competitor, and I'd like to know how they stack up.

That was an absolutely awesome run at the 'ring by a truly badass Camaro. He beat the crap out of that monster to get that time. A truly wonderful job. It looked as though to me he just about lost it once or twice. That guy has balls of steel.

Well it is good to see what my car can do without me having to find out myself. The ride though the video did not scare me too bad... In fact several spots in the video and I know good and well my foot would have hit the floor boards lots sooner.. anywhoo... They don't pay me to test the Zl1...
But that ZR1 ride? I bout shart my pants when he hit 180....THAT IS WAY TOO FAST for a production street automobile...
that guy driving the ZR1 probably has a dish of nuts the size of Cantelopes...
My word that is fast.... The ZL1 is a puss compared to that....
Can't wait to get my car though. I wont ever have to push it to much passed 100 cause I can always watch how fast it CAN go from the saftey of my home and computer desk thank you very much.
Its fast enough for me...no mods for me. Anyone that would mod this car to make it faster than it is on for a street environment would have to be a quart low upstairs...Just saying. Car is plenty fast bone stock. The only thing I might remotely would want to consider would be putting the ZR1 tires on the ZL1.

I wonder if a professional race car driver experienced with nurburgring took it around the track if it would do better..
I know some manufacters hire professional drivers to take cars around nurburgring where as GM uses engineers.

I was wondering who drove it as well, and how many times they did it to get the best time they thought that they could...

I don't think we have seen the last time the ZL1 hits the ring, its only a matter of time before the LS9 becomes optional for the ZL1 imo.

Well it was GM's engineer (test driver) Aaron Link. He did 40 laps. The guy can drive no doubt about it but I do know in the CTS-V 4 door sedan call out. There was another GM Test driver (John Heinricy) that beat him by like almost 2.5 seconds. That guy ran a 2:46.5 to Aron's 2:48.9. Figure a little more then double that time difference for the longer distance track. Maybe that guy would of got closer to a 7:36 ya never know

interesting comments about the next gen camaro and awesome video.
Agree with everyone on the size f this guys balls. Lol would never be able to do that, wish I could though and yeah that last turn gave me a heart attack, thought he was going into the wall

The ZL1 insideline saw was obviously a ring prototype but the not the speciifc individual(car) that set the time. extremely cool though

Wow, that so much reminds me of a typical day on the way to college a couple of decades ago. Profs to the driver for lugging around a sizable pair of kahoneys.

The thing that most strikes me is that this 3rd gen MR suspension is nothing short of ZARKING MIRACULOUS.

From watching the vid, I do believe a few more seconds could be shaved off - but with a preliminary 7:41 I'm in no way complaining. I would wager that when the official time comes out it will be under 7:40.

I was lower than almost everyone when I guessed 7:47. Happily I was wrong.
