Go for it, but remember even some vendors just want your money, nothing against them for that. Just get your headers, careless x or H and a nice cat back with a CAI. them your cam. Stay away from the Tb spacers and the ported TB gimmicks. They are worthless. Good luck on your build.

Telling you right now, man, if you had an LS3, I would agree, but with an L99 and all the things that SHOULD go with it, after labor and tune it will cost more. 4-5k is not uncommon. Replacing the oil pump, possibly a torque converter, and completing a conversion (including lifters) to handle even a VVT cam I believe will run you 500-800 dollars.

Headers, exhaust, and CAI should not push you over 3k with labor/tune. I'd like to know who told you that package would cost you less, because I need to talk to them.. I don't think they are including the labor/tune.

Longtube Headers will NOT disappoint you, since you have already gone the tune route, go ahead and drop the AFM/DOD if you haven't already. The sound is awful with headers and I actually gained MPGs after the tune.

You can install headers and cold air intake and a axle back or cat back exhaust yourself and save yourself the labor. It is not difficult to do. It is just basic hand tools. You can buy a SCT tuner and most parts dealer will hook you up with a free tune too. Jannetty did that for me.

Oh man.

You're going to be surprised in the end. Cam cost the same after labor and tune that full bolt ons do.

And you won't get very good numbers without the increased airflow that bolt ons would give you.

But it's your money.. Just don't come back on here upset at being a 350rwhp cammed l99 when the rest of us are hitting over 400 easy.

Go with OBX, Doug Thorley, Stainless Works "off brand", ect. These are all around $500 give or take.

Thats a good move brotha, believe me i was amped on doing a cam prior to everything else and i got advice to do that after the basic bolt-ons ( CAI, Headers, exhaust) and im fine with that for now, that will get me threw the winter, then is camming time!!!
