I scored a dozen FREE show tixs from Tanya at Courtesy Chevrolet, which I will bring to our roof top destination on Saturday morning. If it turns out lots more peeps come on the cruise or meet us in the parking lot by 10:00 am on the 31st, we can each pay $5 bucks and then have enough to purchase another discounted 8-10 tickets so everyone gets in for just $5.
Awesome!

Scott, are you trying to say that active-duty "Seal Team 6" ID you showed off was fake?

Depending on the attendance (on top of the parking structure), we can "water down" the FREE tixs with a, say, "$5 donation"...this will allow us to purchase more tixs at the show at the $10 discounted rate so everyone gets in for $5...

Active-Duty Military FREE Tixs!

I just confirmed with Tanya at Courtesy Chevrolet in Mission Valley...they have over 100 for military to get in free any day of the show with military ID, they are Red in color (the yellow ones are for anyone & they have very few of those...I have 12 for our Saturday the 31st cruise / meet), anyone can stop by and see the front desk or send service members to pick up their tickets as well.

Can one of our active-duty Military peeps pick up a handful of the RED ones? How many are in a platoon...

Walt, the regular yellow FREE admission tixs are for retired Military and civilians (like me)...if the turnout on the 31st is more than expected, we will resort to "Plan B" = $5/person, so we can buy $10 discounted tixs ($2 off the regular $12 admission)...no one will have to pay more than $5 to get in (parking is not included, which is something like $10-12 per car)...sounds to me you are going to spend New Year's Eve in San Diego!

I work in Old Town, so I will try to swing by Courtesy on my way home or during lunch. Last time I was in the Mission Valley area before Christmas it took me amost an hour to get out of there because of all the traffic. Might have to try getting in the back way!

Unfortunately, I am retired also, so not sure which tickets I can get.

Scott, Courtesy Chevrolet is very low on the yellow FREE tixs, so call and speak with Tanya first. If you can pick up a few of the red ones for Active-Duty Military, that would be very helpful for Saturday the 31st! Everyone needs to bring a $5 bill with them ($10-12 for parking too!), so we can get everyone in for cheap...if others can stop by another Chevy Dealer who has FREE tixs, all the merrier!

I was able to pick up 3 red tickets at Courtesy. Traffic was not too bad during lunch. Just talked to the guy at the reception desk and he did not even ask if I was military.

Sweet...I snagged two red tixs from Quality Chevrolet in Escondido...as you know, it says "Chevy Dealers Salute the Military"...nothing about Active vs. Retired, so I think we are good with a total of 5 now! (also explains why the Ford Dealership was no help at all!)

I also snagged a blue "Employee Pass" from Jack Powell Dodge...good news = it is good for TWO Adults...bad news = only valid for Thursday and Friday, December 29th - 30th! Just says "Proof of Employment may be required"...no mention of WHERE one needs to be employed...

The first person who sends me their mailing address to go Thursday or Friday, gets this bad boy blue ticket!

That sucks.... but I'm sure Greg will do a great job fixing it better than before.... he did my headers and tune.

I snagged two more red Tickets at Jimmie Johnson Chevy. Had to show my retired ID. Just need to ask for them at the desk.

Have we decided on where we will be meeting?

Scott...you bet we have, and thanks to you and Tim for picking up more RED Military FREE tickets...we now collectively have 17! How many of those going will be bringing their active-duty or retired Military ID? Does anyone have a fake Military ID that I can use ("Door Gunner" works for me)? Just for the SD Auto Show of course!

UPDATED / SIMPLIFIED CRUISE INFO:
The plan is to cruise together and arrive at the Parking Structure attached to the north side of the Hilton Hotel - on east side the Convention Center - by the 10:00 am opening time of the show! I have 20 $2 off discount coupons we can use...with the FREE civilian and FREE military tixs we have, I will kick-in $5/head for any more tixs we need. There are at least 4 Camaros from CCSD joining in, 1 Dodge Charger (yes, at my invitation), as well as those who don't sign up, preferring to "stealth" into the pack.

Here are the two "authorized" cruise routes, meet at 9:00 am and leave for Downtown at 09:30 am:

From NORTH / EAST:
1. Mission Bay -> SD Convention Center Cruise (20 minutes)

From SOUTH:
3. Starbucks @28th Street & I-5 -> Convention Center Cruise (17 minutes)

From WEST:
NO boats allowed, this is a land cruise!

The 2 groups link up on PCH just south of the Sassafras exit for the last 3 miles of the cruise. No matter what unforeseens happen, everyone meets on the top of the parking structure by 10:00 am! I will run the Mission Bay -> SD Convention Center route this Thursday to make sure there are no issues, and to make sure there is a good spot to hook up on PCH by the Sassafras exit.
