Of SS vs Z28? for the discussion we have had here.

But for the ultimate top Camaro few can argue against the ZL-1.

ok, ill give you credit on that. I forgot the Trailblazer had the power of a C5 'vette (if not more), my bad !

i actually didnt realize GM admitted it. thats kinda interesting.

i still would like to see the Z28 badge instead of SS, just because ive always liked the sound of it better

I've always thought 'Z28' had a much better ring to it than 'SS'.

That's why I'd like the 'affordable' V8 to be a Z28...

I would gladly take a Trailblazer SS if someone was, oh, walking down the street handing out keys for free!

When you think Z28 you just think "Camaro " When you think SS nowadays, you think "Okay, could this be Trailblazer, Cobalt, Monte Carlo, Malibu, Silverado...etc."

It's much more fun when someone says "So what kind of car do you drive?" to say "Oh, I have a Z28"

Is it me, or do the headlights still look like a work-in-progress?

That's the only part of the entire vehicle that still looks in question.

It's okay. Not the headlights. Take a look through the threads and you'll find a LOT of info. And welcome to the site!

When you reply to someones post, there should be a column of smilies to the right. At the bottom of those there is a blue hyperlink that says [more]. If you click that, you can see all of them. Just copy the link that says it will post the smiley and there ya go!

But if you're just replying in that little box below the thread, you'll have to click 'Advanced' to get to the screen Camarochick's talking about.

I take your use of "affordable V-8" to mean the base V-8, correct me if I'm wrong. While I absolutely want to see a new Z/28, I also don't want it to be the "watered down" base V-8! What I really wanted to see (and think is highly unlikely) was a base V-8 around 350 HP, then two other V-8s at 430ish HP and 475+ HP. I don't mind whether SS or Z/28 is the top dog, but I surely want the Z/28 version to have great suspension/handling characteristics to go along with whatever engine they use (more like the 1st gen Z/28s), I don't want every darn base V-8 pumped off the assembly line with a worthless Z/28 emblem on it, Z/28 should mean way more than "base V-8".

heres a simple test:

how many of you know EXACTLY where the Z28 is from - and those of you that "know", state your knowledge here as to what the Z28 moniker means.

Are you asking what the Z and 28 mean in the name? or are you asking if we know what the original car was?

I don't know of any particular meaning behind the alpha-neumeric code, unlike with say the Olds 4-4-2. What I do know is that Z28 was the regular production order that you had to ask for to get the street version of the trans am series race car. It had a 302 cu (5L) small block V8 that was rev happy. The cars also came with a very good suspension setup as well, making them some of the best handling cars of the day.
