Im hoping someone could help me, I have the Mrt 2.0 exhauast and been dying to install these bad boys. Anyway I had to wait for my Razzi Body kit to come first, due to I need to know where to center or extend the Tips since the Rear Diffuser will make the settings differant. Finish installing the Body Kit and it look great. So now I can see my rear diffuser centers perfect over the stock body opening, but now my stock exhaust needs to come out (extended about 3 inchs or so). So I figured Ill just take it to the Muffler shop and have them add on 3 inches just before the tip. But once I got there, They said the whole system is stainless steel and they dont weld stainless steel. I called around Meniki, Muffler for less, Midias, Madder Hatter Muffler and the all said the cant weld stainless . So now im not sure what to do.

How can I extend this exhaust ?

Is it possible to extend the MRT 2.0 exhuast with just adjusting by hand during fitment ?
Can't say as I've run into this one before where a shops refuse to weld stainless steel... hmmmm...

Unfortunately no you wont' be able to adjust it enough during fitment to get the kind of length yo need...

That's weird, I went to a Meineke and there was no issue with welding stainless steel, that's the whole reason why you go to a professional. If pro welders can't weld stainless steel, who can? Sounds like they just don't feel like having money right now.

mypuppysirius, Just recieved the mrt 2.0 set. I saw a video on you tube where the owner weighed the stock muffler set at 51 lbs, and the set of mrt 2.0s at 18 lbs., shedding a whopping 33 lbs. off the back of the car. What was your experience?

I weighed the stock ones at 25.5 lbs each. MRT's weighed 9.5 lbs each. A savings of 16 lbs. per side or 32 lbs overall. Yes a nice weight savings off the back end.

As for HP gains, MINIMUM at best. Most of us are buying these for the sound. Maybe worth 2 - 4 HP

May be over-kill, but when using band clamps on my exhaust set-ups, I always add a nut to the bolts where they stick through the clamp to act as a jambnut. Never (yet) had a clamp to slip or need to be re-tightened.

Good info

This is a very good thread. I too am very new to the Camaro community and just decided last night to go with the MRT V2 axle back exhaust for starters. I look forward in learning more information on parts and tips for the 5th gen Camaro.

mypuppysirius,

Thanks for the great write up. My MRT 2.0's should be delivered today and I will be doing the home install this weekend. I've been subscribed to this thread for a while in anticipation of the day I would install mine. Great pics and thanks again, I'm sure a lot of your experience will help me out during my install.
