I didnt start this thread as a knock on GM. In fact it wasnt even a knock on the transport company because I realize that things like this happen. I wasnt even upset when I was told about the damage by my General Manager. I knew it would be fixed correctly. Actually the title of the thread was meant to be comical. I thought it would just be away of us "afflicted ones" to make light of (not complain about) our "affliction". I have had to explain and laugh about my missing mirror soooooooo many times in the past 3 days it is unbelievable.
By the way if you need the correct paint codes for your car in the near future and your body shop cant find them, the person for them to contact is the regional GM Accessories Representative. Thats how we found the correct code for my paint. I am going to start a new thread with this information.
So, this was meant to be a thread to "make light" of our misery

I can assure you that the driver of the transport did not rip the mirror off on purpose.

It's called an accident.

AS to the Duct Tape......


Would you rather that he (or she) left the holes bare so that water could get down into the door and into the speakers and wiring harness?

The driver was thinking and put the tape on there to PROTECT the car from any FURTHER damage.

Did you not just read what I wrote???? I just spent time and effort clarifying that I was blaming no one, that I wasnt mad about the ACCIDENT, and I think my dealer is handling the repair in an EXCELENT manner. I have posted elsewhere about this but didnt go into detail here but I agreed to the duct tape for the very reason you mentioned. The driver had ducted taped the whole mirror to the car because it was hanging by its power cord. The dealership removed the mirror and then I agreed to the duct tape to prevent water and trash from getting into the door. I have since replaced the duct tape with Painters tape. Again this thread was meant to be a way for the few of us who had damage to "make light of" (Laugh at) the situation...NOT AS A MEANS TO BITCH! Remove the thread if its being taken the wrong way!

Tiger, I think Scott may have been making his comment towards some of the people that have taken the duct tape issue as a shot at GM, not at you.

HOLY SHEET! Man, I'm glad you were able to walk away! It sucks about your car, but that can be replaced. What the hell was he driving? Were you stopped or moving? Can you walk us through the story? That's only if your able to................

I don't think I would have had the restraint to have not added to the kids injury's.

That makes me what to just thinking about what you must be going through.

I'll go ahead and say it... how could GM let this happen? They have 5 years to develop the new Camaro and no force field to protect from uninsured drivers???? I'm buying a Honda.

i worked for the darkside for 3 years (ford) at a dealership... and watching transport drivers unload cars countless times, i'm not the least bit surprised cars are being damaged during transport! Those cars come off the truck "gone in 60 seconds" style!

Vin 4372 Damaged

Vin 4372 Arrived today with Damage. Mirror busted off, scrathes, dings, c-pillar dent all around etc... It is being quarantined at a GM Level 2 hold. Cannot move it until the GM rep is their on Monday.

Do not know what to do now.....

Good Lord, these cars are handled by people. I know I have made mistakes. You have to realize, this happens. No matter what Brand or even value of the Marque shipped. (Including Ferrari's , Lamborghini's, etc.)

Lordy, folks, chill out. There is an extremely high percentage of no-problem deliveries.
