Car: 2010 Camaro 1LT V6 RS
Engine Mods: K&N CAI Typhoon 1. Wheres the cheapest place to buy a Rx Catch can? 2. Do I need the optional "Oil cap breather" like the one sold on JDP Motorsports? 3. What exactly does the "oil cap breather" do? Does this replace the factory oil cap that helps secure the engine cover to the manifold? 4. Would you recommend the standard(Passenger) bracket if you have a CAI? 5. What other oem's make the Catch Can? Are some oem Catch Can's better than others? I understand the purpose of the catch can, just not exactly what the big differences are between manufactures, and the optional accessories they sell. Please advise. |

I'm not an engineer nor a professional engine technician so my answers should be taken as friendly advice. Searching and reading will get you all the advice you need but I thought I would try to help you out since you went to all the trouble to start a thread.
1. JDP Motorsports and member SC1250 (Rx Performance? makers of the Rx catch can) both sell it for the same price. There are a couple of quality catch cans available if you search the site for them. Not too hard to find. I opted for the Rx. It comes in several colors or polished at no extra charge. Good quality construction and highly functional which is why you're buying it anyway. 2. You do not need the breather. However if your get the breather cap you can eliminate some of the excess factory hoses and the oem "catch can" that runs on the driver's side of the engine. Those hoses and can are hidden if you use your engine cover so its your call on the extra $39. I don't use the engine cover and I liked the cleaner look. The kit comes with every thing you need to remove the extra hose and cap off the fittings. 3. The breather cap provides an intake for air to circulate. Yes it replaces the factory cap. 4. Yes I would. Rx supplies plenty of hose for that connection. The drivers side mount required me to buy an additional length of hose to make it work for me. 5. Search for Elite or Mike Norris branded cans? I don't know all the differences between them, sorry. Warm weather will bring out the St. Louis Camaro group. I hear its a pretty big group and you can get a ton of advice from your local owners. Good luck.

Thanks for the info, I chose to go with the Rx V6 version from JDP Motorsports without the Oil cap. I wondered what that "catch can" looking thing was on the drivers side under the cover. From looking at posts and signatures I didn't see a lot of folks actually utilizing that. I do like the idea of getting rid of it though. Thanks again.
