At the present time, our SC572 package is not offered with any addl. tuning to keep the powertrain warranty in effect, sorry. But trust me, it's seriously fast, and with perfect drivability, too! Re: the new ZL1, it is an amazing car and a great price point! That said, we continue to sell our SC572 Callaway Camaros to those seeking style, power, and exclusivity, bundled into a package and backed with our peerless powertrain warranty - out support is second to none! I look forward to your impressions after driving one of our Powerfully Engineered Camaros ![]() More @ www.callawaycars.com |

My vote is for the Callaway. Although I do really like the ZL1 there is just something about the Callaway. BTW the orange one pictured is currently for sale on here!

The aftermarket will easily provide a simple pulley and tune upgrade for the ZL1 on top of it's current 580HP 2012 release, as well as GM upping the HP next year any way.
There is no comparison to the ZL1's progressive engineering in handling currently, and it's breaks are fantastic stock, so I don't see the purpose of the thread question other than an individual values having a unique but over priced, under performing Saleen like parallel in a Camaro. Erik

How about a ZL1 done by Callaway and a winning Lotto ticket to afford it?.

Those Callaways are sick! Plus it's more exclusive!

yeah they are so exclusive I could have one tomorrow and I can't even get my ZL-1 ha ha.
honestly last year I considered one but this year I can't fathom buying one over a ZL-1. mag ride, stronger tranny, dual disc clutch, stronger rear diff, etc, etc.

Maybe I’m a minority but I can’t get on board with the look of any of the Callaway cars that have ever been made. I’m sure the engineering is superb, but I have always preferred the stock look to anything Callaway has done.
As for Callaway vs. ZL1… if you want to go fast in a straight line but don’t care that much about road course handling, prefer the look of the Callaway, want something more exclusive, and money is no object go for the Callaway. Otherwise IMO it is ZL1 no contest. SLP, Callaway, Berger… all of these guys will need to step it up to compete with the price and performance of the ZL1 or start modifying ZL1s. That, or they will just rely on the exclusivity and look of their cars to continue selling them.

While I've always liked Callaway cars, a full 1/3 of SS was upgraded to ZL1. You can do a lot of that with the aftermarket, but the aftermarket can't duplicate the speed of EPS and MR. You can CERTAINLY get a car that will outperform ZL1 (many here have!!! - FOR LESS!!!), but whether those cars are as usable, and dare I say safe, as ZL1? That remains to be seen, as of yet. The electronic suite in ZL1 is unmatched, even superior to CTS-V AND Corvette. You have what sounds like a near-bomb-proof differential, upgraded tranny, shortblock, driveline, and a complete effective aerodynamics package, not to mention all the coolers you're going to need. ZL1 is a totaly package. If that matters, and having the adjustability at a button means something to you, then perhaps ZL1 might have a little edge. However - if you like tinkering, and don't mind swinging spanners and clicking some knobs - an upgraded SS will certainly outperform ZL1 and make you feel just as special - especially in a Callaway.
IMVHO - the Callaway will be more special in the end. It's your money and you can't go wrong as long as you're happy ![]() EDIT: CONGRATS'!!! I know you're going to be one happy camper

No offense, but the Callaways just look like regular SS Camaros with a hood and maybe a lower splitter. I'd go for the ZL1.

The Callaway looks great no doubt, not to mention the hp that comes with it.
However, for ME, I want zee whole package that comes with the ZL1 where everything was built with each component in mind from diff to electronics...they compliment each other. With that said, if I can't get a Zl1 I wouldn't turn down a Callaway should one come my way. It is a Great alternative! |

What packages are on your Callaway? I would speculate you would see somewhere around 490-500 rwhp.

We need to encourage the aftermarket camaros to compete along with the zl1; That way we can keep the mustang and its aftermarket versions covered!
