When do you foresee this mile run? May have to plan a Texas trip.

Think of it as a ratio; 3.07 : 1. 1 rotation of the tire is 3.07 rotations of the ring gear in the diff. That will be the same regarless of what the transmission is doing.

The 3.07 for the rear gears is only related to the driveshaft.... Consider that the driveshaft is hard connected to the pinion yoke, or yolk as some call it... the driveshaft continously speeds up as the car travels faster...

Well, I had every intention of it being a little over a week from now, but obviously I can't make that one.... So, I'm waiting to see what the schedule is for October... and how it fits in my work schedule.... If you plan on heading this way, let me know... you can stay at our house...prior to heading to Beeville... but I might put you to work helping load the car and lots of other things... It's about a 2.5 hour trip to Beeville, so we will be getting a hotel room or a big camper for down there...

3.07.... And yes, it is a very close ratio....

Yup... I may have copied sixth wrong... It is a satellite connection and not real clear on the reception.

yeah, in most setups... unless its truly custom, your top gear won't be higher than the gear before it...lol (or "lower" depending on your definition of the terms)

ummmmm....not quite.

what it means is that 3.07 rotations of the PINION gear and driveshaft means one rotation of the ring gear and the wheels.

Spike has explained the rear end gearing thing to me in detail on the phone too.

One day I'll start letting Spikes genius soak in.

Thanks, I knew what he was referring to and read it as correct... Yes, the 3.07 is 3.07 rotations of the driveshaft to one rotation of the ring gear and wheel/tire...

I should start charging you for every time I give you advice and you don't follow it... I need some compensation for the waste of time

Ah crap, yes I meant driveshaft/pinion to tire/ring gear. I reread what I wrote and see that would confuse someone since it would be 1 : 1.
