Softened water will still contain some number of TDS (total dissolved solids) and this is what will cause spotting. Perhaps your TDS PPM is low. Mine is pretty high.

Deionized water will contain zero TDS.

Even when the CR-spotless resin wears down and gets over 15 PPM I start to see spotting.

I'm not expert - just reporting on what I've read and my own experiences so take what I say with a grain of salt :-)

May be the whole house filter before my water softner?? I know the water softner does leave sodium ions in the exchange process....Hmm, would try the DIC but with space at a premium...hmmm

Is this one at Sams close to a dic 20? http://www.samsclub.com/sams/shop/pr...oductId=124557

It's close. The DIC-20 is two cartridges and has wheels to roll around.

Ok so I used it today. I have to say this thing works great. I rinsed my car off using the CR Spotless. No spotting at all. I did this about 5:00pm, in the sun in a black car. I also grabbed a micro fiber towel and did a half a$$ wipe and no spots. Car looks amazing.

I have a customer with one in his garage which I use to maintain his cars through the colder months. Smells like fish.
