sct livelink datalogging issues

I cant seem to get my livelink to work with my xcal 3 to datalog my car. The pids wont load and it keeps coming up with a processor code of 0. I tried different versions of livelink and even updated the firmware on the tuner to the latest version with no success. Anyone experience a similar issue who could help me out? Thanks in advance

Install the livelink II then call act to get the latest software for your hand held unit.

I too have the latest firmware for hand held and Live Link 6.5 and it says my ECU id is 0. Computers software and hardware have always been a thorn in my side. lol I lost track of the countless hours I have sat around trying to figure one issue out over another.

First, return car to stock.

2rd, open sct device updater.

3rd, you will plug your tuner into the compute WHILE holding the cancel button. CONTINUE HOLDING for 5 sceonds. The screen on the Tuner should be blue with no letters showing.

4th, go to update firmware. you should be able to browse for the firmware( I have a copy of the new version) . Click on it and it will erase the old firmware and install the new one.

After that, go to device info(somethin like that) on the tuner and see if it is the 1.2.137.03 firmware.

change car back to custom tune

You should be good to go, I went to validate pids and then it works. I tried using my old pid list and it didn't work.

Go to act web sight. The new livelink is called Gen II. Download it and install it. Then call act technology support they will get you the latest firmware for your 3400. Then everything will work!

My firmware on my tuner is 1.2.127, when I run the sct device updater program it says my tuner firmware is up to date.
Anyone have a link to the latest 1.2.127.03 firmware, I can't seem to find it online anywhere.

Yea, it is my understanding now, in order for everything to work correctly, you need to download livelink gen II, and have the firmware version 1.2.127.03. Once i get the latest firmware loaded on to my tuner I will try it out. What bothers me is each time I have to return my car to stock to update the firmware my device unlocks left counter goes down. I wonder what happens when it gets to zero? Will my tuner be married forever to my car?

Well, I downloaded GenII and it seems to work with the version of firmware I posted. I will see how the data reads when I'm ready to log data, I'm pretty sure i have the latest version of firmware available. I updated hand held as soon as I received it a few weeks ago.

I had same problem. This is what worked for me in the end:

1. Car has to be ON (engine running)
2. Plug in SCT to OBD port
3. Plug in SCT to laptop
4. Fire up live link software
5. Click on little graph icon to get ID#. Write down.
6. Shut everything down, do #1 to #4 over again.
7. Open new datalogging strategy, enter that ID# (don't ask it to get PIDs). You have to do it twice because the first time it does not work.
8. Now all the variables appear (could not get them to appear any other way). Select the ones you want. Save as a new cf3 file.
9. Close everything out, unplug everything, do #1 to #4 above again.
10. Open strategy, the cf3 file saved earlier
11. Click green button to start logging.

If I did anything different, like trying steps without unplugging and restarting first, everything died. Could not get variables any other way. It was crazy.

I know this sounds wacky but it works for me consistently every time. If I try any shortcuts it does not work, period. Hope it works for you.

EDIT: I'm traveling and don't recall exactly what SCT tuner I have. It's the one JRE sells. Might not be your model. Can check tonight.

The new firmware that you need on your xcal 3 is not listed on their website. Why? I have no clue, but you need to call SCT to get it. Its firmware version 1.2.127.03. The only difference is the .03 on the end.

Here is the firmware you need for your 3400 gm programmer:
X3P-FW-12137-US-3400-GM-03.lwu

I managed to update the firmware on the SCT successfully (this was after returning the car to stock and loading the custom tune once the update was complete). I also downloaded the the new version of Livelink. I started he car, hooked the SCT to the OBD, Hooked the SCT to the laptop and fired up Livelink. I am able to retrieve the vehicle ID and it seems that everything is connected. I load my configuration file and pressed the button to begin datalogging and nothing happens. I did this a few times, and each time it appears that no data was collected. None of the gauges moved on the laptop. Kind of frustrated.....anyone have any ideas that may be able to help me out??

you have to validate pids. if you try to use your old list it won't work. At least that's how it was for me

Did you go to validate all pids? Don't load your config file. make a new one
