Hey guys. I purchased this SLP loudmouth 1 exhaust (31201) in 8/2011. Already I have discoloration seen in the pics below. Not sure if it's rust or not. Looks black and brown to me. Will not wash off. Thoughts? My Borla exhausts have never looked this bad.

I have them too, and mine do not look like that. Ive had them for almost a year. Only the inside looks a little black but most of it comes off while washing.

...pm me for any other mods that u have, Im scarred of adding to the sound...

SLP uses the cheaper 400 series stainless (same stuff as stock exhaust) but they still charge the same prices as companies like Stainless Works and Borla who use 300 series stainless. Their stuff is going to rust.

Wish I'd have looked into this more before purchasing! Especially living in Ohio. Had to take it out a couple times this winter when my SUV broke down

i got slp loudmouth2 for a year now still looks new...but i dont drive in snow

I have the Loudmouth I also and it still looks brand new. If the discoloration/rust that you are talking about is what the pics are showing on your tips, that isn't rust. That is just a build up of exhaust soot. Some good cleaner/degreaser, or even claybar will take that right off. If you drive your car too long with the exhaust soot on the tips, it kind of bakes on and can be a little tough to remove sometimes.

I hope you are right! Will give this a shot and keep you posted. I do seem to get more grease/soot than some! Hope my new catch can solves this problem.

Now for the update! I used Mother's metal polish and was able to get these tips looking close to new considering the shape they were in (see pics below). The clay bar did not work at all. Clay bar did work well removing a few grease spots on the paint however. Did not try a degreaser. Thanks Elykson!!!!!

also you might want to pull your exhaust tips out a little more the bumper is melting on top of them onto the tips

Hey, how do your SLP Loudmouths sound? Is it like the video on their site cause I love the sound? I want to get the SLP Loudmouth asap but Im just not sure. I know that it is just a muffler delete. I have a delete now but it sounds awful. I did some reading about the tubing they put which is press bended and only 2 1/2" and not "Mandrel bended" 3 " like the Loudmouth which could be the difference in sound. There is no shops in my area that have the "Mandrel machine". Please let me know.

just get a loudmouth2 its not a muffler delete and sounds good

its not that bad to me. Im goin to get a res delete and if its not anything more annoying than this, ill get the rear cat delete too. I just have to get the money....

then long tube headers.
