Transmission cooler fittings
Does anyone have part numbers or a link to the correct fittings to install a transmission cooler?
I need the correct fitting that "plugs" into the radiator and the correct fitting that would "plug" (for lack of a better term) into the line that used to connect to the radiator. I would prefer them to have -AN on one side, but pushloc or NPT would work. Thanks guys, Jason |

Looks like I can use this fitting http://www.summitracing.com/parts/RUS-639200/
for the transmission line to AN fitting, but now I need the part number for a fitting that will plug into the radiator. Thanks, Jason |

I think the correct way to do it would be to screw the an fittings directly into the transmissions an run them as you see fit from there.
That's what I had planned anyways. And you should be able to leave the radiator uncapped. Once all the fluid drains and it is empty there is nothing to worry about. |

I want to run it through the radiator as well though. I am not trying to be argumentative at all, but that's how I'm going to run it! So don't take that wrong.
If I see a reason/need to bypass the radiator after I install it the way Id like to, then I will. Thanks though! Jason |

This may not be what you want and it won't be the prettiest, but couldn't you buy another set of transmission lines, cut the ends off that have the fittings, and use rubber hoses to connect to whatever they need to be connected to? That way you would have factory fittings on one end, and you could have -AN fittings on the other if you wanted.
That being said, I agree with the other poster who suggested skipping the factory cooler completely. Look up posts from dietcoke (I think he got banned) but he used an aftermarket cooler and it shows the fittings he used and the cooler he used, etc. |

I don't want to use rubber hose as, IMO, it is kind of hackish. Will it work? probably. But not the ideal setup. I also know the 6l80e sees a lot of pressure (upwards of 200 PSI) and I would rather have braided line and AN connectors than rubber hose... I have always ran an aftermarket cooler in series with the stockers on all of my vehicles and they always run 150-170 in the summer. That is ideal for me...in the winter they run 130ish. I am afraid to change what has been so foolproof for me. I guess I could run it alone, but I would rather not... Even if I do exclude the stock cooler I would still rather connect to the stock lines instead of running braided as that just seems like a waste. However, I am not close minded and need to make a decision here quickly. Thanks for the ideas and helping out a "newb" to the board. C5 is awesome. ![]() Jason |

What kind of tranny do you have auto or stick?
I have it setup where a -6 AN line comes from the tranny and goes to the radiator which has a -6 fitting. From there it exists the rad with another -6 fitting and enters the external tranny cooler which has a -8 AN fitting so I used a -8 to -6 reducer. Then it exists the cooler and heads back to the tranny. I also installed a temp sensor inline so it could activate the fan atached to the cooler. You can use and adapter to convert you stock lines/fitting to AN or just remove the fitting at the radiator with an AN fitting. Finding a threaded AN fitting that goes on the stick tranny is easy but doing so on an auto is not. You would need a special part since the lines are both attached to the auto tranny with one bolt. There are no threads on the in/out holes on the tranny.

What part number did you use for the AN adapter at the radiator? That's what I need and can't find.
I have an auto. The 6l80e of course. Are you saying the auto and manual have a different radiator? I know the connections at the trans are different. |

The connections at the tranny are different.
I don't have a part number but the place I got them from might be able to make some more. If you want to run all AN lines then you will need the fitting that go on the tranny and the ones that go on the radiator. Your best bet would be to get the adapters that go on the existing tranny lines and convert to AN lines where they meet. The lines coming out of the radiator meet the lines coming from the tranny about a 3rd of the way back near a cross member. You can add the adapters there otherwise you will need the block that attaches to the tranny that has AN fitting attached.

As said, it "clips" to the radiator leaving the thread area of the adapter outside to connect AN line to.
Thanks, Jason |

I first used adapters that clipped into the stock lines that had a -6 AN on the other end.
They look like this: ![]() Those fittings clipped onto the stock lines and converted them to AN. ![]() I also had the stock block at the transmission modified to accept AN lines. ![]() I wanted to get rid of all the stock fittings and lines so I just bought some fittings that go directly on the radiator. They thread into the radiator like the stock fitting but have AN on the other end instead of the retaining clip. Here is what it looks like: ![]() This is what it replaced: ![]() While I was at it I replaced the modified tranny block with one made specifically for converting to AN.

We sell both the fittings (we make them) and a plug and play transmission cooler kit.

Here is what it looks like:
![]() This was what I was looking for , something that will bolt directly into the radiator. Correct me if I am wrong but from the picture I think this is the adapter http://www.summitracing.com/parts/sum-220166b/overview/ Thanks!!! |

No, the factory radiator is the quick connect fitting, not AN. The adapter I linked above converts the radiator to AN
