Read my 2nd post concerning the deal. That's not including the other couple thousand worth of price reduction and preferred customer. I was keeping the post short, lol. That's what he jotted down real quick

sounds like you are on your way to joining the club, congrats in advance.

Really, the RS is going to come down to the rims and lights IMO. Is that worth the money? Depends who you talk to. I decided to go w the LS for the low car payment with plans to upgrade the lights later. Once I found out how much that cost..... eh... im going to deal with what I have. The rims I will upgrade someday, will probably keep the 18 inch tires though to cut costs. Been rocking the steelies for a full year.

If I were to change anything I wouldnt have cut corners and gotten exactly what I wanted (an SS). But in that scenario, far less financial freedom to do other things even though I am doing much better financially. You never know when something crazy will come up, like u said.

Why don't you just skip buying your 1st Camaro. Buy your 2nd Camaro 1st by not getting the LS model 1st and then later trading up to a higher trim or "motor" like MANY people do everyday?

I'm not going to spend the extra $10K+ for the SS as they are typically optioned. Don't make that kind of cash to spend on a car alone. I've never drove very high optioned things so it's not as if I'm having to keep up with high expectations, lol.

If I want to go fast, make noise, and burn through gas, I have a '93 step side with a 5.3L LS to go tear up. I'm buying a daily driver with the most fuel mileage potential/cheapest insurance (as far as Camaros go).

Really I'm just picking color now.

I didn't drive the 8.

But like I said, I'm not comfortable spending all that additional money for the sake of it. I have slightly more pressing things to do in life than spend $500 a month on a car note for 5 years, lol.

By the sounds of your posts you are in the market for inexpensive so the LS hands down is your car. Now that this is resolved, what are your color choices?

Yea, like I mentioned, I have a go fast, drink gas, break stuff toy. I just want a comfy, fun, daily. Right now I practically drive a bus (Silverado Crew). It's about as fast and handles like one, too, lol.

At my dealer is a Rally Yellow and a Silver Ice Metallic in the LS with the interior color I want. I really like them both. I feel like the yellow may be too flashy, yet at the same time I kinda like that, lol. The silver is more sleek and low key. More of a business attitude.

I'm not crazy about Orange, my crew cab is Victory Red so I want to go a little different, white is nice but I haven't seen any local. Not a huge fan of the darker colors. They show too many paint defects and accidents and get too hot in the Louisiana heat.

OP, get the RS if you can manage the extra coin. You will be MORE THAN HAPPY in the the long run, I promise you that!

Also, your reasons for V6 vs. V8 and perfectly justifiable. Get whichever one fits your needs, which sounds like the V6.

Far a DD I vote Silver. Hard to tell when they are dirty other than they lose some shine.

I think the silver looks good plain or with stripes. The yellow looks better with the stripes.

Indeed. I flipped through every single page of the SIM color thread today. It seems like the best bet.

The salesman I worked with is off tomorrow. I'm going to use that day to think good and hard. Who knows, maybe Tuesday or Wednesday I'll pull a trigger

Can't go wrong with summit white It's a color you really have to see in person to appreciate IMO. It was probably my 4th color choice initially until I saw one. Kind of sucks the dealer doesnt have one, but dealerships can always swap with another if need be.

Sounds like the dealer really wants to work with you, rally stripes are something else you can get them to throw in to get you behind the wheel. I got my LS at a great price and got the stripes put on for free

I typically really like white, but silver seems like a really good daily driver choice. Looks classy and will look a little better dirty.

Edit: Despite saying that, I did nearly buy a 1994 Corvette two weeks ago. It was Competition Yellow. The color is what almost sold me. Hmm.

Yea, so far the 'list of demands' include a spare tire and the aux gauge package. Those are probably my top two. I do not like being on a trip without a real spare. Goo and a compressor don't fix a shredded tire. I've only needed a spare twice in 7 years, but still. And I don't like depending on idiot lights. I really like to keep a visual tab on things.

Past that, it needs window tint. I'm undecided on any kind of stripes. The first mod would probably be letting 'er down an inch or so. Blue carbon fiber bowties, and plasti dip the rear spoiler. I've noticed simply bringing the LS cars down some make it look more serious and less commuter.

Of course, if I buy it

I skimmed the list but I didn't see anything noteworthy for the level car I am shopping for.

Thanks.

I was stuck in the same situation as you man,

At first, I wanted the 1LS with the RS package in it, but then I found out that it will end up being 30k total for a car like that, when in the end I was going to eventually change the rims, add my own body kit, my own spoiler, ect.

In the end, next week, Im off to go buy my first 2012 Camaro LS. its the cheapest plus I can mod it the way I want.

IMO, go with the 1lt/rs if your not planning to change anything in the car.

But if you plan to change the rims, add a body kit, ect, I'd say stick to the LS, like me

I say drive an hour in every direction just checking out all the dealerships to see if one of them has any decently optioned car on the lot that has been there since 2011. You never know what they may be willing to throw out there, and you can possibly pick up a highly optioned older but still brand new Camaro for way less than a 2012 or 2013 if you find the right dealer. There were a few that were never listed online over here and not very well advertised that I would have never seen nor considered had I not taken the chance and stopped in at the dealership on the way to see another car. That is how I got mine, and I couldn't be happier.

I stopped by the same dealer again today.

Drove a 1LT in Summit White.

Had the grey/black interior. Did it mostly because I wanted to feel the suspension which says 'sport' on the window sticker as opposed to nothing at all on the LS. It did seem firmer, but maybe that's a mind trick. And I wanted to see if the different rear end gear felt any more powerful.

I was less than impressed with the paint job on the car however. IDK if all new cars are like this these days, but I noticed light spots in some places, IE, bottom of trunk lid, here and there around the door jamb, etc. Paint is also extremely thin in the engine bay and on the core support. IDK, I'm just impressed you spend $27K on a car and they can't shoot paint completely under the hood. I guess nobody looks under there anymore. You could see clean through the paint and to the primer, like it was just misted on. I know steel these days is galvanized and protected better than before but jeez, I almost feel like this thing would be bare metal by the time it hits a measly 100K.

Anyways. I'm going to have to get more wheel time behind one. This dealers test drive course never clears 50MPH and is probably 3 miles long if you round up. They're gonna have to loan me there 1300 mile RS demo for a couple hours or something to get me sold. IDK.

In a perfect world they would let me drive one back to the house so I can stop for groceries, check the mail, and buy some Taco Bell and then bring it back

WTH man? I bought mine in Slidell, had no idea you were that close. There are tons of dealerships around your area. Mine let me pull the car to at least 80 and drive around a bit in it, albeit with him in it. I suggest calling Brian Blackmon at Levis Chevrolet. They have a pretty good selection down there, and he is really easy to deal with. Please check it out.

I paid 26,500 for my 1LT/RS. DO NOT pay 30! The dealer can do better.

I wanted to test drive a V6/6 speed manual car today. Neither of the two local dealers had one.

*sigh*

Drove to the Ford dealer. Test drove a V6/6 speed manual Mustang.

Looked at the sticker price/vs options.

Well. The dark side looks very, very bright. Actually, I may call the two Chevrolet salesmen tomorrow and thank them for their time and patience

It's OK though. I have another Chevrolet here at home and she'll never leave my side.
