Hat-tip to Ted Jannetty: in another thread he mentioned about fuel pressure weakening with less fuel (less weight of fuel behind the pick up point).

A light bulb went off:

I had been running <1/4 tank (habit, and never a problem with the stock fuel pump and bucket).

The new fuel pump does not have a bucket at the pick-up point in the fuel tank like the stock pump. Ergo, fuel sloshes around, and it gets worse with each pass (less fuel).

Needless to say, I'm running a full tank of gas this Sunday.

But I am hitting the track! And the roll cage is going in on Monday for the Atlanta Camaro5 race at Commerce next Friday!

Padre - Glad you found what might be the possible cause. I'm expecting low 10s and you getting thrown out of the track for not having a cage.

Thanks John! I'd be happy with consistent 10.7's, and a 10.5 would be an eventual goal. But if I can do a 10.3 I'll be all like .

I'm full up on Saturdays in May, but I am running Commerce on April 20th, and then taking off June 1st to 3rd to run the LSX Shootout in Commerce.

Ran the GTO at Midnight Madness last night against a 5.0 Mustang. I must have really pissed him off, because I had him on the launch and the sixty, and he was only able to come back with authority at the end.

13.892 @ 101.28, 2.17 sixty

The real race car hits the track tomorrow.

Well, the bucking was definitely the fuel bucket. Everything is smooth today. Full tank of gas,

Good traction, best so far is 11.029 @ 125.97 with a 1.704.

Density Altitude is over 2000, so it's a bit warm for records, but I'm happy so far. Now I can tweak the rest of the tune.

Good catch on the fuel....I think alot of us "old school" guys are used to running with a couple of gallons in the tank to save weight.

10 second pass any minute.

I wish I would have known you had an aftermarket pump with no bucket. I've seen this a lot in the GM trucks and it is why I kept the bucket in my turbo truck.

Glad you got it figured out!

Backed it up: 10.987 @ 128.09, 1.676

MPH increased - I was able to remove IAT correction to keep overall timing at 16*. No KR.

I just launched one at 1500rpm and cut a 1.608, 10.922 @ 128.29.

Shifts are nice and even at 6600 rp.

One or two more passes...

OK, here's the best run:

10.818 @ 128.25, 1.565 sixty.
6.943 @ 101.74 in the 1/8th.
DA = 2000.

And not a fluke:

Name: 10s-20120415-steele.jpg
Views: 4196
Size: 265.9 KB

Once I got the tune dialed in, I hit consistent 10's. Once I was happy with that, I experimented with the launch RPM. The best launch was at 2200 rpm. Track was great, DA (from Dragtimes IPhone App) was above 2000 all day, and 100* on the track itself.

Roll cage goes in tomorrow. Glad I finally need it now.

Did you have to pedal it at the top of first or is that wheelspin I hear on the shift?

Thanks. The track was hooking great, my MTs are well seasoned, and no front sway bar - all worked to make a 2200 launch possible.

Yep, chirped the 1-2 shift , using the CTS-V tranny parameters.

Not yet, we couldn't fit it in front of the intercooler, so still considering options. I might end up routing it in the rear.
